Heya guys. I'm looking for good photoshoot locations across UK; any place you've seen on TV or walked past or visited that you thought 'This would be an awesome place to take cosplay photos.' So I thought...well why not make a list of places? There's plenty of secret locations that you'd never find if you just went to a random town and walked. So I'll start it off:
Medway is where I grew up; there's plenty of castles around here, Upnor Castle, Cooling Castle, Rochester Castle, and of course there's two cathedrals, one at Rochester and another in Canterbury. Of these, only Cooling castle isn't easily accessible, being a private residence and quite a drive out of Strood, but it's worth it to visit Cooling Church, which was one of the setting scenes of Great Expectations, and the marshes, right on the other side of the village of Cliff itself, which would make a good military style setting.
Ainswick Castle in Northumberland is a stunning venue. It's pretty huge, and that's not even mentioning the surrounding countryside, which is awesome. The castle was used in the filming of the Harry Potter films, amongst other things, so it's worth looking up...plus, they're used to cosplayers, as you can imagine.
Any other places you've come across?

I know there's a huge and beautiful graveyard somewhere in a city in Scotland which I saw on TV the other day and immediatly thought 'that'd be great for cosplay!' Sorry they're not too specific, if I find out more about them I'll edit the post. |

Talking from experience do keep in mind that certain places are privet property. Under UK law you can take pictures on public property all you want. But on privet property you can be charged with trespassing. Most of the time the owner of the property will just ask you to leave. So if you suspect your on privet property take you photos quickly and get out. Also if you have cosplay weapons be careful. Someone might call the local constabulary on you. Don’t want the Local Armed response police showing up. __________________ James Fedora Cosplay Photographer & Cinematographer Otaku Punch Pictures & Media www.otakupunch.com Facebook & YouTube Groups- Otaku Punch Pictures & Media |

Tab The places that first come to mind are Canadian Sq, the London Eye, parts of the docklands, DLR stations are good since they are new looking and the trains look like something from SciFi. Jublie line stations are good the silver and curved walls look futureistic. Also the ExCel has some good places. Like under the coverd walk from the DLR station the Sky walk is a good place as well. I have done many photo shoots on the sky walk. The Bridge infront of St Pauls is also good when foot traffic is light. Keep in mind if your shooting photos on the underground you have to contact transport for london before hand. There is a simple form to fill out. __________________ James Fedora Cosplay Photographer & Cinematographer Otaku Punch Pictures & Media www.otakupunch.com Facebook & YouTube Groups- Otaku Punch Pictures & Media Last edited by nadesico81 (24 Nov 2008 - 13:44) |

'Feel the Silence' and 'A Stray Child' were both taken in Chester subway, as well as the other photo I've linked: http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/costume/view/1502 http://mungojerrie.deviantart.com/art/Lost-102810747 All the photos in these two costumes are at Port Sunlight train station: http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/costume/view/1659 http://www.cosplayisland.co.uk/costume/view/2068 Any other times we do cosplay photoshoots, we'll stop off at local botanical gardens, or sometimes just the woods that we live near! My friends and I will normally go to Ness Gardens, and here's some cosplay photos that I've taken there that I really loved: http://mungojerrie.deviantart.com/art/NG-Transparency-75826961 http://mungojerrie.deviantart.com/art/NG-Break-Away-82441728 http://mungojerrie.deviantart.com/art/NG-Rewrite-75825730 http://mungojerrie.deviantart.com/art/NG-AC-Memories-75549456 http://mungojerrie.deviantart.com/art/NG-Tifa-Lockheart-II-75546371 |

One of the only pros of living down here, the scenery is amazingly helpful. <3 Torquay seafront/green is nice on it's own. Dartmoor's a good one too! |

You wouldn't be able to shoot inside the collages (unless you're a member?), and you have to play avoid the tourists, but the university parks are stunning. Headington park isn't bad either [/biased]. There's the botanic gardens as well, and the greenhouses could be interesting if you wanted something jungle based and were good at avoiding the name tags.
Cambridge is similar, except for a whole lot more green. More spaced out too. I don't know much of the river there, except where it runs through one of the collages (can't remember which one off the top of my head), but what I saw was pretty. Plus, punting. __________________ -an Angel that didn't so much Fall as Saunter Vaguely Downwards- |

But Stanmer Park, a large public park with a small picturesque village and forest is grest. Also Ashdown forest, big, dense forest would be amazing if you have a suitable costume (some kind of elf, maybe? I've always wanted to take Feena there. Or my RO Rogue costume). Obviously we have the sea close by. Brighton beach is too stoney, but Rottingdean is quite sandy at low tide, and its pretty in the summer. There are a few nice homes near by too - Preston Manor was erected in Edwardian times, so would be kind of good for Steam Punk. Opposite there is a gorgeous rockery garden I'd love to shoot at. Unfortunately, none of the universities around here are especially old or monumental looking, which is sad. But we have a few nice places. |
