May MCM Expo 2012 Memories thread
I haven't spotted a threat for this yet, so thought it might be a nice idea to start one.

What are your memories of the London May MCM Expo 2012? Your highlights, least favourite parts, funny moments, weird moments, anything specific, etc.

The weekend was fantastic. Going round in my Vincent Brooks cosplay for the three days was a lot of fun. Especially meeting up with fellow Catherine cosplayers and having photos done outside. It was awesome. Anyone who has a photo of the group can they let me know please? Thanks.

I gained a couple teenaged fangirls in the Sunday Masquerade. That hasn't happened for some time.

The Que xD

Not usually peoples favourite part but this time It wasnt too bad and I loved giving people in the que next to us High 5's xDD

There were loads of them all with their hand out ready and I just ran past them High 5-ing all of them, then afterwards I realised I just touched like 20-30 hands so I wiped it on my friend's sleeve (Jokingly LOL)

Also, I enjoyed turning down Free huggers but instead High 5-ing them in order to avoid touching sweaty bodies (Not to sound snooty but my OCD would have had a melt down if I had noticed a second hand sweat patch on my cosplay xP)

So yeaaah, Gooood times ^^

Being Saria was so much fun! I got a really good response to my costume which has given me a major confidence boost ^^
Highlights definately include meeting TomSka and some starting to whistle the Lost Woods theme when I walked past them XD

Well, I suppose like everything May had its ups and downs for me. Start with the positives...

- I think I must have been the only male Izaya cosplayer for some reason, I saw about 5 girls as him but no guys. Suppose it isn't a GOOD good thing, but still entertaining. XD
- Really awesome to see some of my friends, old work mates, old school friends and to meet some people from here like VampPirate xx 1987, saw the Gears of War group but didn't get a chance to talk sadly and I also had a nice chat with the lovely Alynia.
- Keeping in my Final Fantasy plushie tradition I went and bought a Cactaur. XD
- Also bought a Final Fantasy and Deadrising T-shirt. XD
- Generally the friendly atmosphere as always!

And, inevitably, the nega-chins...

- Just no getting away from it, it was hot. And cosplaying as Izaya I was wearing a black wig, black jacket, black shirt, black trousers and black shoes. So I was pretty boiling. XD
- The hotel: The actual hotel was alright, but me being a little short on cash just decided to get it for the Saturday night and come home Sunday afternoon. Check in at Saturday was 2pm and checkout was 11am soooo didn't get loads of time!
- Having a painfully shy brother who wouldn't join in conversations or go off and do his own thing, just take a few steps back and wait. So cutting all my conversations short wasn't exactly what I had in mind...
- Getting random people walking up to me, hugging me and buggering off without saying a damn word. Lolwhut.

Memories like the corners of your mind! xD

Just a few from myself...

-Staying in the Aloft, WOWZER what an amazing hotel - i'd highly recommend it for everyone! the rooms are amazing and the staff are uber helpful and interested in cosplay! lol

-Being in the gears of war group definetly, meeting up with all the other cool gears fans and seeing how hard they'd worked on their armour was brilliant! =]

-The handful of gears of war fangirls/boys that chatted to us through out the day of note, a pregnant girl that was just so hyper lol a dude who wanted a picture of him kicking me in the balls (I was baird) and the lovely girl we chatted to after the masquerade who seemed as if she was shaking she was fangirling so much bless her lol

-playing numerous drinking games on the saturday night, including Drink or dare especially with some dares including 'Bodyform' 'Duck, duck, goose' and 'YOU'RE NOT A TREE! I'M A TREE!'

-spending what seemed like moments chatting with friends on the sunday evening about groups we want to do then realising we had sat there for about 4 hours xD

So thanks everyone for a great expo!

Having my makeup done by the lovely Miiol. She not only made me look fabulous but taught me so much.

And waking up on the bathroom floor Monday morning. Always a sign of a good night.

I'd like to echo these sentiments, I still have the "Bodyform for yoooooou" actions replaying in my head

One of my best memories is someone coming up to our group and asking if we would mind Curb Stomping him! lol.

Being in the group that won the "Best Group" prize in the Saturday Masquerade with my second ever cosplay

Just standing out of the way in the Expo room and not being able to move for over an hour just because of all the people taking pictures.

I don't know the game very much but I saw you walking 'round. You were such a cute Vincent!

It was a really great weekend being Yuffie! Despite initially thinking that no one would recognise me, "Yuffiee!" was being shouted at me first thing on Saturday morning and I received many'a hug [:

Still have no idea how I managed to tie in wearing this cosplay at the best weekend of the year weather-wise...! Even though I got a tiny bit burnt on my shoulders and back 'cause I forgot to put sunscreen on >.>

Met some absolutely wicked+lovely FF cosplayers. It was also lovely to meet up with Gemma (gbow on here) and her friends again if only for a little bit before they were busy with their own meets, photoshoots and whatnot.

Sounds a bit sad, but an albeit little highlight for me was picking up the complete Azumanga Daioh manga set in one big book! I've been on the look out for it basically ever since I started going to Expo, so thanks to the stall for selling it but moreso to my brother for seeing it + telling me ^-^

Our hotel was terrible, in a word, but tbf we did get what we deserved for the price (£33 per person per night). We've learnt from it and rectified it for Oct Expo. I hope it has saved me muneez for the summer/Uni in Sept and not been a false economy! ><

My weird and funny time; did anyone else get appraoched by two guys carrying an awful painting of the Queen inviting people to a dub night? They were so random it was hilarious.

This was, hands down, the bext expo I have ever been to! (8 I made so many new friends!

I went to Japanese Style Kareoke on the Friday with some new friends and we got lost and ended up being directed down some creepy unmarked stairs underneath a chinese takeaway and we all thought we were going to get murdered or something... :'D (also, none of us could sing, BUT LOL, oh well...)

On the Saturday I met so many amazing stall holders and my friend even had a special cupcake made for him by the lovely lady running the £3 cupcake stall. :3 I'm incredibly grateful for all the people who offered me a seat behind their stall when they saw I was struggling to walk in my hooves. XD;;

Then we kinda fobbed off the after party to hold a Eurovision party in our hotel room. X3;

Sunday was the day that I bought all my things - but I was susrprised to find that some places had sold out of some of their stuff by the Saturday evening, so that was a little annoying, haha... >_>

The people at the hotel were really lovely, considering we had a leaking air-con and my friend threw up all over the lobby. >_>;;

Downsides? Well, my friend accidentally broke my cane... my goggles fell apart and it was really too hot for me to be 100% comfortable in the faun costume. D:

Two people coming after me for a photo on Saturday when I cosplayed Mia Fey (felt so bad, heard them calling behind and didn't realise they were calling me at first >.< must remember to react to character names) made sure I apologised when I realised what was going on.

Seeing friends again and having a laugh. Also, on the Friday me and my boyfriend stayed with a friend and some people she knew, despite only knowing her and one other, the others were nice and we felt welcome.

Not only deciding to come back for October but also deciding that a group of us will cosplay Avengers together (this stemming from a close friends love of Loki).

Seeing amazzing cosplayers.

My first ever Convention, also first time Cosplaying. I'll never forget the feeling that I had that hardly anyone would actually be in Cosplay (I know) and I'd look an idiot because I hadn't handstiched it during months of hard labour... getting completely destroyed the second I stepped off the train

Seeing so many like minded people and interating with them is very special, like going to a football match but with less beer and more dancing

30 May 2012 - 21:2785025
Upside was definately my awesome friend who kindly partnered with me in two of my cosplays for Friday and Saturday. Cosmo and Wanda, Altair and Malik Also getting photos taken, so happy my Descole cosplay was well recieved xD"

Plus all the grand cosplays and groups I saw in the masq's ^^

I'd say my overall downside was the heat...that'll teach me to organise WHICH cosplays I wear in the summer and winter. Was practially dying on the Saturday xD Lesson well learnt.

I had a pretty lousy expo this time around. Mainly weather related, but my GF's costume deciding to significantly and repeatedly malfunction didn't help

I did have a couple of highlights though:

I was cosplaying from an obscure webcomic, and the reaction from the artists when I turned up at his table in costume was a joy to behold (I also got some freebies as a reward too!)

Meeting up with friends and chilling out by the river at night was great too. Once the sun was down the night was very pleasant, and it was great to catch up with people I normally don;t get to see except at expo.

Last may i couldnt go due to exams;( this time properly 3 days, it felt really hot;( compared to the other expos i been to,but that didnt stop me from having a great expo. It kinda sucks the day you go home ,you are on the train ;9 thinking its 5months/7months to the next london one, 2 i think for manchester one.

For now expo blues;9 are hitting me

my memories include helping out at the expo

friday i was April o neil, the camera crew kept singing the TMNT theme it was funny on saturday i got to have a chat with the creator of TMNT and told them i had cosplayed April the day before they wanted me to go back and get changed lol.

meeting the guest and helping them to stage the team wolf guys are amazing and Holland was so lovely. I also educated Sarah on how to speak leighther ( town im from)by saying 'me' after every sentence. XD

Oh huge shout out to Claire who was front of stage manager cos of her the stage ran pretty much on time XD

being in the saturday masq having literally 20 min to get ready XD and just having an amazing time seeing how it all works are runs but it is soooo tiring, an im glad to give the position of guest liasion back to its rightful owner and be a con goer again
