Closet Cosplayer Coming Out
Hey guys! I've always envied people doing Cosplay, and always wanted to get into it but have never really had the confidence to do something about it. I'm attending my first con atm(the currently ongoing MCM Expo in London)and I guess I kinda had this image of hardly anyone being in costume and looking a prat... needless to say having been on the Friday just gone I now FEEL a prat. It was awesome seeing everybody doing what I wanted to do so I'm finally embracing it

I actually have a costume (Resi 4 Leon)that I've been putting together for a good two years bit by bit (and never had the courage to wear in public!). I'll hopefully post a picture of it soon so you guys can tell me how much I need to learn! In the meantime is there anything I should know/ think about as a first timer?

Hey!

Congrats on working up the courage to wear your first costume - its not as easy as everyone thinks the first time =]

Only thing you need to remember is HAVE FUN! =]

I actually ended up going as a Dark Brotherhood assassin from the Elder Scrolls games as it was a little easier for me to pull off for a first time! Went really well other than that most people thought I was Palpatine from Star Wars!

Definitely want to try something more ambitious now though it's a really addictive feeling and i want to get back out there! Thinking of going with my friend as Natsu and Lucy from Fairy Tail so I'll make a post looking for people
to join us soon

P.S Thanks for the welcome and I noticed you posted in loads of the welcome posts, well done good sir!

*Extreme welcoming rainbow glomp*

Helllllooo there! Welcome to the awesometrain. >w<
Great to see you embracing the insanity!
Sometimes it's a scary hobby to get into, especially your first cosplay at a con! Just remember that wherever cosplayers can congregate, we will darn well congregate, even if it's on the moon. :3 You'll never be the only one (and feh, who cares if you are? Normalness smells!) at a con for sure!

Can't wait to see some of your other cosplays!

Once you've started it'll become addictive but you learn a lot too. Good luck!

thanks guys loving the enthusiasm It IS addicting, right now all I'm thinking about is my next opportunity tyo cosplay. I don't see clothes now... I see a canvas to be torn up put back together - was gonna throw out a load of old clothes but when I looked at them I saw loads of bits that could make my planned natsu (fairy tail) cosplay instead

I don't generally like people are very pedestrian - if there's one thing I'll try to teach my kids its to bed weird and proud. Honestly the day I accepted I wasn't normal was the day I started loving it and letting go
