I've got an idea! How about a Zekrom costume? I've seen people make Reshiram, but not poor Zekky! All I need is:

1. Instructions

2. Materials (I'll get at Hobby Lobby )

3. Time on my side. (Go, Dialga! )

But then it depends on how you want to make it :L Gijinka, Fursuit ect.. Both need diffrent kinds of fabric ect...

erm do you mean a gjinka (spelling :s) ?

whatever it is your plnning if your asking for help on how to make it you'll need to provide reference pictures... ive seen a few gjinka design for zekrom lol.

If your just starting out with making costumes you might want to get a good sewing book that gives step by step instructions on how to do certain features- eg waistlines, puffed sleeves lol

As the people above have said you need to decide what kind of costume you want to do.

There's fur suits, which is trying to get an accurate resemblance of the animal you are trying to make or there is Gijinka, which is where you try and humanise the creature and have its characteristics but not necessarily look 100% like it.

These are some Zekrom gijinkas people have designed:





gijinka is probably the most common pokemon costume as they are generally easier to walk around in.

Depending on what type of costume you want to makeit will depend on what materials you want to use. Generally fur suits are made of fur or fur-like material and gijinka are generally more clothes-like materials.

There's also things like foam, which can be, cut, shaped and molded into the right shape. Fur suits and cloth costumes generally need a skill with sewing which you can pick up but then you would need the right tools (e.g. sewing machine etc) but foam is the same, but you'd just need different tools, glues, heat guns etc

So first, find a design that you want to do, when asking for help on here you HAVE to provide reference photos, people won't go out of their way to look them up unless they are feeling extra generous that day. Think what kind of materials you may want to use, where your skills lie and what you'd like to either learn, or already know.

Generally there's no instructions on how to create specific costumes but there's loads of techniques out there and it's just a case of mixing and matching.

I think for the wings and the tail thing at least, EVA foam would be perfect or papermache over some wire mesh, like chicken wire.

Thanks, guys. But I need it to be foam-based... Is this Gajoohikey (I know I spelled it wrong. ) foam-based? It's kinda cold down here in East Texas in the fall-winter time. (And no, it is not all desert here, for example, I live in a wooded area.)

They don't sell freaking awesome pokemon costumes at a flea market! I got the markers for making the costumes.

I cant say it for Gijinka's but I know that fursuits have foam based heads and sometimes have foam padding and they tend to get really hot >__<

That's good because I need it to be hot.

Last year I was a ninja... I was FREEZING in that costume, so I guess I learned from THAT mistake!

yeah , though as i've never done a quadsuit i think i saw them called i cant say if that book would help.

Gjinka's are human versions of the pokemon (etc) so if your looking for warmth i'd say that might not be so good- as it's just normal clothes and ears and tail :

i've got an umbreon gjinka on my c.i.if your still curious about them and i think i've seen a kerebros( cardcaptors) quadsuit on here- so you might want to see if you can find that - i'm sure in the journals it showed stages on how they did it and stuff

Wait, you got an Umbreon costume? Do they have Glaceon, or Vaporeon, or Flareon, Leafeon, Riolu, Lucario, Palkia?

haha erm i made my umbreon gjinka - which is just clothes and made my own tail and ears.
( i could never wear a quadsuit lool i'd die of over heating in one lol )

i don't know anywhere that sells quadsuits lool - you might want to check around online.
as for gjinkas i've never seen anywhere to sell them either - though i've seen people do pokemon hats- ilike espeon...but i'm not sure where
