KIT4CON: Cosplay Chess Sign-Ups
I'm pleased to announce that Cosplay Chess will be running at KitaCon! For those who didn't see the last match held at AyaCon 2011, Cosplay Chess is a theatrical giant-sized game of chess, where the pieces are cosplayers who have to battle to win! It's really good fun and was very popular last year, so after popular demand I'm bringing it to KitaCon!

If you'd like to see a small clip of cosplay chess, here's a video on youtube (0:00 until 3:18): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rpLxyXszy8

The main event for everyone to watch will be on Sunday April 15th and will run from 12pm-1pm, however if you would like to participate please continue reading!

If you would like to be a chess piece in this year's Cosplay Chess, you need to be able to attend the mandatory rehearsals on Sunday April 15th from 10:00am - 12:00pm (and then obviously the main event from 12:00pm-1:00pm). If you cannot guarantee being available for this time, do not sign up. You don't need to have any prior knowledge of chess as all your moves will be dictated for you, however it is important that you can speak loudly and enunciate your words so the audience can hear anything you say on stage!

If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in this thread, otherwise if you think you'd like to take part, please fill out the following form and PM it to me.

Your badge name:
Your contact telephone number:
Are you comfortable projecting your voice on stage?:
Are you able to come for the full rehearsal and performance time on Sunday from 10:00am to 1:00pm?:

Character: (if you are flexible with your costume choice, please list all costumes you would consider wearing and fill out the following for each)
Reference image of costume:
Piece suited to: (would your character's personality be suited to a King, Queen, Bishop (magic-type), Knight, Rook (defence-type) or Pawn?)
Example of a "battle attack" you would use: (try to think of things that don't involve stage-fighting!)
Example of a character weakness/battle death: (for example, a weakness for beautiful women or food?)

Please note: places in cosplay chess are NOT first-come-first-served- I will make selections based on what I feel will be most suitable for the match. Please don't be offended if you're not picked, however for showing interest I will ask you to come to rehearsals as a back-up in case we have any drop-outs!

I haven't got a clue about this but sounds fun! if I'm a piece in it or not I'll be there, sounds unmissable =]

Really tempted to go for this as it looked so much fun last time.

Any restrictions on the costume?

No costume restrictions, although try to avoid super large costumes, anything bigger than Felixize's Beatrice dress is probably going to struggle to move around on the board. I hope you can join us!

It looks like a lot of fun! myself and my fiancee are considering joining - if not definetly watching the madness unfold! xD

LOL I missed out last time due to taking too long to get back in touch about it. XD It'll probably be the same this time as my group and I are not the most organised in advanced when it comes to cosplaying on certain days, etc. So when I've finally got that hammered out, I may well apply then! (Too late, no doubt, but we'll see.) Best of luck with the production this year~

Awesome. Yes, either of my costumes should fit.

My brother is interested in joining in as well. He is most likely to be Sweeney Todd.

I've got 20 people signed up for Cosplay Chess already and I only opened applications on Monday! Can everyone please make sure they submit their applications to me ASAP (either by PM on facebook, KitaCon forums or CosplayIsland forums) as I would ideally like to have sign-ups closed by the end of the weekend.

I'm really tempted, but I don't think The Riddler would make a good chess piece. He would think he would be the King - the most important piece on the board!

Plus he's the sort of character that would instruct other people to do things, not actually put himself in harms way.
