Crossplay
Just a random thought:

I've started my To Pack List for expo, I'm crossplaying the first day and have realised that I am taking girlie anti-perspirant, girlie deodorant and a small range of girlie perfumes...

Surely if I'm meant to be a guy it's odd that I'd smell like a girl? I usually choose my perfumes to go with the character but the thought never crossed my mind that I should smell like a guy! Does anybody who crossplay also wear the right smellies for their character too?

Yup.
I tend to wear Lynx or Brute when i cosplay men.
plus: i find they work better anyway.

But normally i wear girly antiperspirant :0

Not that I can really help when it comes to smelling more like a guy... (I never really think about it, just spray the deoderant and thats about it)

I do reccomend lynx though, especially dark temptation, as alot of girls seem to like the chocolate scent it has.

I used Lynx Dark Temptation for all my dude cosplays. I do add a hint of Stawberry to my Sephiroth as it says thats what his hair smells like in Crisis Core. lol!

For perfumes I use a white musk base as it smells quite generic. I also recommend Clinquie Happy as the male and female smell the same and is quite a generic smell. Plus it lasts all day.

oh i get confused about this to! >__<
For expo, im gonna bring my sure stick seeing as its unisex so, i should think ill get away with it. xD

Hahaha it's such a small detail! I'm gonna steal my boyfriend's Lynx (saving the precious pennies in these "tough" times). I like feeling like a man! I wanna be a man for a day so I can cosplay Casshern! Anyone watched it yet? Damn He's HAT! <-- read in a ghetto voice

I've not cross-played (but plan to) and I would use a normal unisex strong AP and then some perfume oil that would be unisex and suited to the character. I've got enough of a selection of perfumes so there's something for every character.

I get mine from www.blackphoenixalchemylab.com and I think it's safe to assume that a few people here might appreciate their eccentricities

I tend to wear scents which suit the character as well. With my cute cosplays I tend to wear sweet smelling perfume; Ralph Lauren Romance, etc.

But now thinking about it, I probably will be inclined to wear some kind of swanky cologne in May, as I'll be attempting a crossplay. What kind of scent suits a well respected Victorian gentleman I wonder? xD

Victorian gentlemen = woodsy smells, cedar perhaps.

Ah, interesting topic - and something which I wondered whether other girls had to think about, as it occured to me as well!

Even though I am more known for dressing in Lolita most of the time (it's my usual fashion, not a cosplay), I actually prefer the smell of men's shower gel and body sprays in general, and I only wear feminine perfumes on very rare occasions. I don't usually get BO so I tend to rely on the smell of my shampoo more than anything - I like the smell of Charles Worthington stuff on boys or girls ^_^

Ive never ever thought about this at all but good question woman!!

Hmmmmm well Ive always just worn my usual scent which as you well know is D and G light blue. Oddly enough I think it goes well with most of my cosplays (the prince like bishi guys) but for a more manly character!! hmmmmmmmmm

Maybe we should put money in our cosplay kitty and invest in a manly manly scent! I say cK Be or JPG just for the advert!

Well depends on the person and as a guy well I don’t where perfume. However what I do where that smells manly yea that’s the right word manly, is something call Old Spice. I Don’t know if you can get it in the UK. Old Spice is a very manly smelling brand in the USA. Alternatively, if that will not work just walk the isle of manly deodorant and shaving stuff at Tesco's and you will have your answer.

However, it is always hard to figure out what a certain anime or manga character honestly smells like. Not like the Japanese have invented Smell-O-Vision yet?

I tend to wear some kind of Lynx deodorant, usually on top of the same scent of anti-persperant stick.

Topped off by Boss by Hugo Boss.

James: They do have Old Spice over here, but it's often considered for the older man rather than the young.

Yea Old Spice use to be viewed the same way in the states. In recent years, they have re launched the brand over there. The slick ads appeal to a younger audience. Most of their product line now has words like Old Spice High Endurance and Old Spice Feel the Chill.

Ok, here's what you do:

* Don't have a shower in the morning
* In fact, don't have a shower the morning before that
* Get a bad, cheap aftershave, and just throw it all over, it doesn't matter how much. There is no such thing as too much.
* Rub some shaving foam into your face, then just wipe it off. If you can still smell it, it means you're more manly.
* Re-wear your underwear. This means wearing it one way, then turning it around so that it's "clean" on both sides. No wait! What are you doing? You're not finished yet! You can still turn them inside out and wear them for four days total!
* When judging if you should wear something, sniff it. If it smells... "Ok-ish", then wear it.

Congrats, you now smell like a man.

Oz's method sounds far too much hard work. As everyone knows, men avoid any type of effort.
So to skip out the previous steps, and make your life easier, just rub up and down against Oz for a bit to achieve the well lived in man smell
x

Ironically, my smell comes from performing those previously listed actions without effort.

If you want to leech off me and clean me in the process, you go right ahead.
