Hints on my first hand-made cosplay
I know who I'm going to do.... I just need help with all the material's and extra help that I may need.

He's jubei from ninja scroll, I can't find his outfit on any site, so I've decided to make it myself. I know how a kimono works, and I have a fair idea on how to make one. However I do not know what material's to use. If anyone could help.... it'd be appreciated.

TBH as it's a fairly simple and straightforward design you could use pretty much any cottony-type fabric in the right colour. Polycotton is great if you are on a tight budget, but if you have a few more pounds to spare go for something a little less man-made and a little heavier. (cotton would look more authentic for this type of outfit.)

Just go to your local fabric store and see what they have in the right color, you could always take the reference picture with you, most sale assistants in fabric shops know their way around fabric, so they should be able to find you the closest thing!!

There is always room for cake

If you can afford it, use linen. Be aware it can be pricy. If not, a heavier cotton is probably fine.

I love linen- but it creases really easily and needs to be hemmed well because it frays a lot in my experince.

Cotton is definately your best bet- though I do feel like I'm just repeating what the above posters say.
