sword prop.
I'm making getsuga's sword. (bleach)
need a stick/rod/sword black and thin that I can make appear in my hand. (preferably by sliding out from my wrist
Image of getsuga with sword

thought of a couple of ways but looking to see if you guys can think of anything i haven't.

1)one of the retractable magnet arms/probe, with magnet removed and painted black(sprayed): drawback is i think the paint will peel off too easily or stick the retracting.

2)a black painted tap measure: drawback is that i need to hold it over my head in a pose...but it'll go floppy nothing more embarrassing than a floppy sword.

3)black wire: drawback too thin it'll be floppy to thick and it wont sit in my arm right.

so yeah any ideas?

I'm not 100% sure what you're aiming for but have you thought of the technique of using kitchen drawer rollers in a similar fashion to how the Assassin Creed cosplayers do their hidden blades.

You might find this thread useful

its overly complicated for what i need lol. but it did give me some ideas for a release type mechinism attactched to my arm.

might be able to rig something up but ill need to visit homebase/hobbycraft and see what materials i got available to give me ideas...

You could maybe use a bit of pipe, tube or something the same shape as your blade but slightly larger.

Have it inside the tube with a springy bit of metal on the end with some kind of catch or hole cover. You then just depress the bit of metal so the sword can slide out the tube using gravity a certain amount and when it's out a certain length it could be held in place by the metal or even just with you holding it and then to put it back up just lift your arms up and release the catch again or let go.

I hope that makes sense, it is 3am so if not, I'll come back tomorrow/today and re-explain and maybe even with pictures!
