Baby America/Canada proportions
Hello, I need some advise! Alright, for a convention me and my cousin (who's around my age, 18) are christening our little sisters (both 13) to the con-experience. And so we though what better way to do that than a group cosplay! Both of our sisters are into hetalia so we figured we could do a group from that series, and thought if our little sisters were Baby!America and Baby!Canada while we were Pirate!England and 18th Century!France it'd be a really cute group that was kinda family-esque to begin with!

So here's my question! Do you think our sisters will be able to pull off the babies without looking awkward in comparison to us? Me and my cousin are around 162 cm tall while our little sisters (I have to estimate here!) are around 152-157 cm tall. Do you think they should be the well-known baby colonies or make America and Canada in less-known kid outfits? I just want to make sure they're stopped and asked for a lot of pictures to make sure they have a glowing first-con experience!

Also, a quick personal question for me...I believe that Pirate!England fits with the baby time period, am I correct? Also, would Pirate!England not fit if they were kids?

Thank you so much for your advise, and sorry about the wall of text! Kudos if you actually read it all!

I don't think the heights matter too much. I've seen older cosplayers play the baby nations before, so I can't see that anyone is going to complain.

As for time periods you've got the Spanish Armada in 1588, you have Sir Francis Drake claiming New Albion in 1579 and England settling New Foundland in 1583 (thankyou wikipedia). I'd say this would mean that pirate England would have been still about around the time America and Canada are appearing as nations.

Here's a link to the timeline if that helps:

I know in the anime Alfred wears his frock when England first discoved him, and I mean the Anglo-spainishtwo war ended in 1604the anf the foundinganime of jamestown was inthe 1607 but canI I sayturned there's room forso overlap? I know it's a stretch but do you think it would be too horribly inaccurate if we still did it? *has already started*

Honestly I don't think it matters too much but here's another timeline based around the anime, which would put Pirate!England near the same time as baby America:

...Alright, I'm still unsure what to do! The historical incongruencies will drive me mad seeing as I'm going to university for history! What outfit do you think will fit more? England's Austrian succession outfit maybe? Though that was in the 1740's and I don't think Canada and America would still be babies x___x

I'd say by the Austrian succession you're definitely looking at older/ teenage america. I can't see many people caring that much about the historical timeline. There is an outfit England wears when he's with baby America, like in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCffBGmdcGo . I'd still say go with the pirate version though.

Yeah the outfit he wears in that clip is so dull! The main reason I wanted to do Pirate!England because of the complexity, so I'll just bite the bullet and cosplay that version. Thank you so much for all your help <3 you are so nice!

Good luck with your cosplays, I'm sure they'll look great!
