Hey Izzi, Do you have some reference pictures/links for the costume so we can see what look you are going for?

Some people might be able to help but don't know the anime.

I'm not sure if you were looking for advice just on the corset or the whole lot, but if it was everything this thread might be useful as it talks about making wings out of foam and wire instead of using actual feathers which I hear can be a PITA to work with.

The corset I would "guess" at lilac or lavender from the reference. You could maybe dye a white one if you can't find ones the right colour but it seems you've got to watch out to prevent the boning from rusting. Dylon do a French Lavender hand wash dye but you'd be better getting advice about that from someone with more experience than me if you do want to try it or maybe even get someone to commission one for you in the right colour?

It always seemed like a really pale, dusty lilac to me~
Also, you could get a corset as a base from somewhere like corset-uk's corset of the day sales, which are usually super cheap, and just cover that so the fabrics would match the skirt and you don't have to worry about rust from dying x3
But, I too don't have much experience with corsets inside cosplay so others might be more help than me~

It would be easier to look at materials and going for a colour you think is right, rather than they other way round. Lavender in particular is a very difficult colour to match. A lot of people will say it's a rather deep purple, where others would say it's a bluey grey light purple. In my own experience at working at The Norfolk Lavender Farm I would have said lavender for that, because lilac is brighter.

So instead I decided to find a material I think would be good for it. I deduced it was a silk due to the time era, her class and the shape and shade of the dress. That shade is a particularly difficult shade to find, since it's a sorta purply grey.

Here's what I found;

You can buy a sample of it for £1. It's a rather large sample too :3 and for £3.50 a metre it's very good for money (I have bought from here before as well).

I'm making this costume for the Cosplay Ball at AmeCon. As it's the first costume I've made by hand, I'm cheating a little. I'm using a corset-style top for the bodice - cotton (given her dress doesn't appear to have any form of shine in the anime and cotton takes dye well), dying it, making sleeves and attaching them and the trim by hand. Then, for the skirt, I'm taking the hoop skirt which I wore under my wedding dress, and sewing the fabric directly to that - it'll make it easier to shape the two layers and I can sew it on in sections to give the "feather" effect. Not quite sure what fabric to use for the skirt yet, though. Debating cotton again as having fabric all of the same composition will mean it all dyes the same colour, but her skirt appears to be made up of feathers so not sure it'd look right.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but it's evident that your fantasies are completely incoherent.
