Hi all I am new to the whole cosplay thing and looking for friends who are into this. I am hoping to learn alot...I'd like to go to an expo no one I know even knows what cosplay is

My sister goes to loads of Cons on her own, and she's made a lot of friends at Conventions. I can highly recommend AmeCon as a starter - a bit of a way for you to travel, but it's a great weekend, everything's on site, the people are usually awesome, and it's a good size for a first con - big, but not overwhelming. The parties are always great fun as well.

I wouldn't worry about going to Conventions on your own - chances are you won't be alone for very long, especially if you're in cosplay.
