Your goal as a cosplayer
Cosplaying is a hobby heavily based on improvement of skills and learning new things, although mostly about fun. I've noticed a lot of you for new years resolutions wanted to get better at sewing in general, but do you have any other goals aside from that?

I know that I personally want to create every Anime version of Cardcaptor Sakura's battle costumes, though it would be unrealistic to want manga promo art as well but it's the first step, but I thought it would be fun for all of us to share our dreams and goals, be it to make a particular costume or to be the best Megaman cosplayer out there. It's totally down to you personally! Maybe you dont have a dream or cosplay related goal yet and this might get you thinking about it if you want that.

My resolution was one of the improving at sewing ones xD
A good question. I tend to set goals on a nearer scale and work towards them, but I dream of making a Noel Vermillion cosplay from scratch.

My goal is to move away from sewing and try to get better at other things such as prop and armour making =3 x.

My biggest project is Cornelia from Code Geass and my hope is that she'll be good enough that I feel confident entering in to a masquerade or something like that. I also want to make something from scratch by myself this year- not necessarily a whole costume but maybe a pair of trousers or a jacket.

I'd like to work on more props. The only major bit of propmaking I did was for a friend for the Fushi masquerade. Was just a simple blade out of foam board and craft foam that was just lying about in my room

And I dream to make an awesome Deadman Wonderland photoshoot come true

One of my goals is to cosplay Dark Woods Circus Miku Hatsune, or do her Star Story versions.

On top of all that, I cosplay to make people happy A excited random stranger being happy for seeing a favourite charater come to life, that seriously makes me always happy for the remainder of a con/event

I'm With you..

A lot of people have thought about moving onto other training skills and other bits of techniques, I'd hopefully like to have perfected the methods I've gotten for Armour making, Weapon making and tailoring and then tackle some of the bigger projects I'd love to do.

As a Cosplayer I think I'd like to be able to really get a nice collection photos and memories in the bag... and try and deconstruct the "rigid" rules that have been put into the competitions... it's hard enough cosplaying something without the fear of looking like a fail, LET ALONE entering a competition...

So for the goals...

I'd like to win a couple of competitions under my belt
Be a Judge and travel around and be invited to do a panel on something (being multi-talented is a curse really....so exhausting)

and cut back on a few to spend time on One project..

To cosplay as many versions of Miku Hatsune as possible x3
And of course, to get better at sewing

to try and make a costume on my own (that kinda failed as i got mad at the sewing machine and broke 2 needles and now my mom has banned me from using the sewing machine)

To make my own costume.

Gosh, I don't know, I'm a bit of a dork who just takes everything in life as fun experiences... But I guess I can group up all my little goals into 5 bigger ones..

1) Make a costume in the first place..

2) Cosplay ALL the Mew Mews! *airpunch*

3) Practise with a sewing machine enough so that they don't hate me any more. ;^; It's a childhood curse.

4) Make something I would enter into a competition. Maybe even win the competition? ~w~

5) Enjoy the years I have left where I can spend so much time on cosplaying due to my late start, and make up for it with three tonnes of costumes and cons. C:

In all? I think as far as goals are concerned, is clearing my list!

Biggest goal would be to get a better standard of finish on my costumes to make them look more professional and actually get more wear out of them. Cosplay in essence is about improvement and fun.

Comps would be nice but all in good time! Not as if any of us are going to disappear anywhere fast with this!

25 Jan 2012 - 19:5677935
- Well my main goal would be to continue improving on my cosplay photography. I'd like to keep coming up with more interesting and character-relevant photo ideas, take shoots for a wider range of cosplayers and get more used to the more technical settings on my camera.

- And for a more short-term goal I really want to get around to doing some Metal Gear Solid cosplay because it's something that has kept being pushed back for me >,<

my goals
+ To improve my sewing skills so maybe one day i could commision costumes.

+Pay my tribute to characters i love my cosplaying as them and paying attention to detail.

+At conventions/expos: become more social, i get nervous and go shy. :/

Just a few of mine :3

- To complete ALL of Paine's Dresspheres. Well 90% of them anyway. But most of them. c:

- Try and get some skill at prop/armour making.

- Do more make up tests for characters. And seeing as I hate make up normally, this is going to be quite difficult. >.<

Yeah winning a competition is one of my goals. I'm knowhere near skilled enough at the minute to win a competition, and I probably wouldn't want to until I did something I could really be proud of.

I want to branch out and expand my knowledge away from just making coats and Kimonos, but I need to get alot neater at the final finish of costumes before I bother making some of my more extravogant ideas.

my other goal that I would really love to achieve is making someone a comission. I want to be good enough to make someone else a costume that they really like.

I knew my goal before I'd even begun cosplaying - to cosplay Freya Crescent from FFIX. While I have managed to do that, I'm still not 100% happy with it so I'm going to keep updating her until I am happy

Other than that, it's to improve my sewing skills. In our cosplay group we rely on each other for making certain things, e.g. I'm best at props so I make the majority of them with another of the people in our group. I feel bad relying on other people to make costumes for me, even if I do repay them in props all the time

To be able to make a costume on my own (well with some help of course)
To be somewhat noticed in costume (but not in a mega attention-whore way)
To be able to act and think in character

To be able to perform in front of people (maybe never will happen but its something)

Oh god I feel for you there. I'm just starting my first Keoko-Gi and Hakama and I feel Ghetto with my misplaced stitching. It's weird at best but yeah just need to learn to pattern better for now.

Armour- slowly getting better
