Greetings!
Hi all

Just a little note to introduce myself. I'm from the UK. My fave animes are Black Butler, Death Note and Requiem from the Darkness. My sister introduced me to anime a few years ago, and I've been to a few conventions, usually cosplaying in fairly basic costumes that I've put together myself from bits and pieces picked up from charity shopes or bought custom-made. However, this year I'm actually making my own cosplay for the very first time! Hoping to get lots of tips from here and have a chat with some like-minded peeps.

Good luck with your cosplays. Got any specific plans for where you want to start?

Hi. Thanks!

This year my sister, husband, friend and I are doing a Black Butler group for the whole of AmeCon. I've bought a Madam Red costume from eBay, and I'm putting together a Will costume with clothes I already own or can buy cheap, but I'm going to make Angela Blanc's dress myself.

I've got a hoop skirt that I'm going to sew "feathers" to to make the bottom of the dress, and a very basic top that I'm going to alter (dye, add trim, add sleeves etc) for the top. Hopefully it shouldn't be too tricky, but I'll be hand-sewing the whole thing so will probably be quite time-consuming.

What are you working on?

I love Black Butler and Angela in particular should be amazing to see done. I shall definitely have to hunt you down for photos.

I have lots of costumes I really want to do this year. The ones I am working on currently are Spain from Hetalia. I bought a jacket and leggings, which I have altered mostly by hand. It takes time sewing by hand but I think its finally come together. The other one is Cornelia from Code Geass, which is for the cosplay ball at Ame. I've cut out the cloak and started sewing it together. The main base is a burgundy velvet coat which I've bought and going to add on the gold detail to the front.

Wow! The Cornelia costume will be amazing!

I'm so excited about the Angela costume I was debating wearing it all day, but don't want it to get too dirty and the large skirt might be tricky in crowded rooms like the Dealers' Room, so I think it will just be at the Cosplay Ball. I'm debating wings. I may buy some smaller ones to wear for the ball. If I get the dress done in time I may attempt to make my own large wings for the Masquerade.

I'm also helping my friend do a reduced-cost version of Ciel. She's going for the green costume he wears in Ep 1 and much of the opening credits, so we're going to try to dye and adapt a jacket and trousers from a charity shop or eBay and then only buy the wig, rings etc. My husband is cosplaying Sebastian for the weekend and my sister is cosplaying Grell. I'm a little bit sad we can't afford to get another coat for my husband and my friend's on such a budget - it would have been great to have a Tutor Sebastian and Ciel's pink ballgown for the Cosplay Ball! Maybe next time.

Hi, welcome to the site

I still need to sit down and watch the Black Butler anime - I've read the manga and adore it. But I'm excited to see your costumes at AmeCon!
