Your thoughts/predictions on FFXIII-2
As you all know the demo for the upcoming 13-2 was released yesterday on 360 & ps3 and I just want to ask you all what are your thoughts on it and what do you think will happen?

As for myself I thought the demo was ok, but there are a few things I don't like/don't get:
- Weight limit on acc. What is the point? you get a limit on what serah/noel can hold and each acc has a weight on it.
- Mog clock - again I don't see that fun since you have to run round quickly to strike the enemy while the dial is green to get a pre-emp
- you don't jump automatically when you go onto a leap pad you have to press B/O to jump
- The enemies aren't open field like 12&13 they appear with the mog clock at random times

But there are things I LOVE about 13-2:
- The Moogles, they are soooo cute XD
- The treasure hunting with the moogle while exploring is pretty cool
- The fact you can recruit past enemies into your team and they take a role of party member, they also have an "overdrive" bar you charge
- Chocolina the crazy lady merchant dressed as a chocobo

As for story wise we all know lightning is not dead and Noel/Serah are totaly gonna hit it off behind snow's back haha. I think we could possibly see Fang/Vanille too given the previous situation in 13 without spoiling it.

The Japanese gave it a perfect score in game magazine Famitsu which got game an FF fans hyped up. But once the game actually came out there, websites flooded saying it was disappointing, just like the original. They dislike the weight limit and the Mog Clock and thought it was a dumb idea to bring out this game in the first place when they sold of concentrating on making XV or finishing off VersusXIII. It also was out-sold by the new Tales Of game that recently came out in Japan. Yet again Square-Enix brought out a game and it didn't sell well. They're toys seem to sell more than they're games.

But don't let the Japanese put you off for buying it thou. If you want the game and a fan of Final Fantasy, get it.

The one thing I dislike is the announcement of the game's true ending. It's announced that in order to get the true ending of FFXIII-2, you need to have a PSN account / X-Box Live and access to the internet, otherwise you'll be left with a cliffhanger.

If Square-Enix was smart enough, what they should of done is put the actual true ending into the game and make it accessible via certain tasks. That way it challenges the player and keeps them playing more in order to get that ending.

From the reviews, trailers, demos and play through I've watched. I am not at all excited for this game. It will be like FFXII and FFXIII all over again, be milked out as a "fantastic game" and will be ending up as a major disappointment which from the looks of it, it's going to be. I for one, won't be buying it, I stopped playing FF games when they converted into Sqaure-Enix. I'll stick to my I-IX, Legends and Tactics.

What I liked and disliked:

Good stuff

Monsters. While far from perfect, it's a neat idea.

Music. I was sort of pleasantly suprised by this. The music is decent. Not FF-amazing, but decent.

Mogclock. Both yes and no. I like that the monsterst aren't walking around ons creen, that just isn't FF to me. but I'm not sure if this was the best idea either...

Chocolina. Don't care if I'm the only one. I loved her

Stuff I disliked.

The characters. Making the most boring character of the last game the main character of the game? Brilliant idea! Also Noel, Kingdom hearts is that way.

Monsters. Good idea, but meh execution. It was pretty annoying to spend lots of stuff leveling your monster, just to find another one later on and then having to level that one. also I want to have a party of only monsters, how frigging awesome wouldn't that be?

Music. Some of it was good, some of it was downright terrible. Oh and btw, where's my Fanfare and prelude?

Battle system. It's one of the worst battle systems in the franchise and they bring it back? Jeez... also where's that tweeking we were promised? Oh everyone now has a sort of "uber-attack". Way to go.

I could probably go on, and there's probably alot of stuff I didn't really think about, but overall, I admit that it was slightly better than I expected, but just not good enough for me to purchase. Maybe when it drops in price.

Overall it felt like they took 2 steps forward, and then 2 steps backward, but that those backward-steps was in another direction, so they ended up somewhere else, but not any closer to the goal.. if that makes sense.

I dunno. I'm just waiting for the FFX HD re-release now....

If it's Final Fantasy with an X and something else after it, count me out...

To me, XIII was just mediocre... Not terrible, but just about as bland and uninteresting as any budget RPG. Graphically it was nice, beyond that it really failed to interest me and personally I just didn't get why they were set on making all these sequels to it. I would say I'd like them to carry on with the main series but I dunno how hopeful I'd be with any future releases. XD

Gimme a remake of VII and I'll shut up, Square. 'S all I'm saying!

Well it's not a "remake" per se, more a remastered version, which is perfectly fine by me

FFX is without any doubt the greatest FF of them all

Thats a Misread, its getting an upgrade to HD and revamped with a Crystal Keys Engine for a smoother generation of graphics and movement.
That's it I guess. They might tamper with other things but its more just optimisation and removal of certain out dated coding and replaced with up-to-date definitions of these.

Final Fantasy VII is good how it is.

There's no need for a remake. People just need to leave it the hell alone!

It's being remastered to HD, not remade.

First of all

FFVII needs a remake to cover all those god dam plot holes

Second of all

Its getting a remake, in an interview there was a word in German which was directly translated as a remake, have a look around, there are loads of reports as of late.

They had a prequel, a side game, a movie and databooks for all that =p.

Also,

I can't find anything on the web about a FFX remake. Only the HD remaster of it and possibly a HD remaster of X-2.

Oh no please no X-2 was an awful game in my opinion the only bit that was good out of the whole game was Yuna and Tidus back together cinematic if you got 100%.

It's a shame what people's reviews/thoughts are around the world because I liked 13, It's not the best but it's not the worst I thought FFX-2 was just awful. I liked the battle system of 13 since it made you think quick on your feet and I love stuff like that, turn based games are a bit slow and can be boring. But I must admit they should of really left the story as it is and focused on other FF games

@ Nii: Actually, I'm in agreement. It's a great game, probably my all time favourite. But it's a game that would actually interest me, I also think it would be great for people who are hesitant about trying a game that is pretty outdated. I have recently introduced my friend to it, and although she's enjoying it she's constantly sniggering at the graphics!

@ Tiduus: Well, there's been a bit of confusion over the so-called "remake." I know for a fact that a lot of companies have been bending the truth when it comes to HD remakes, for instance Konami announced they would release a collection of HD remakes of Silent Hill 2 and 3 or something similar. In actual fact they're neither HD nor remakes, HD resolution is 1080p whereas the "remakes" are only 720p, which isn't HD! Other than improving the resolution they did next to nothing to actually alter the games. I know obviously it's not Konami, but I have a creeping suspicion Square are going to do something similar with FFX.

Honestly, I just really think companies should be careful with that word; "remake." To me, a remake is when a company completely start from square one again. They update the graphics to current gen, add in or redo voiceovers, possibly change subtle aspects of gameplay and iron out any plot holes. All square have actually said about FFX (Correct me if i'm wrong, by the way.) is that it's going to have remastered graphics. Which, to me, should be called a port rather than a remake.

Anyway, I'm getting WAY off topic here. I'll shut up now. XD

Took the words out of my mouth although it's not the companies that make these mistakes it's the retards that are disemminating them again.

For each person that reads that it's a revamp. Nothing extensive is going into the edit of the modules and engines used to power the battle systems but it's the graphics engines- hence why I mentioned Crystal Keys Engine for the graphics which is fairly similar to Unreal Tech Engines but because FFX doesn't have intense detail to textures and thr the characters aren't realistically affected by their environment or what attacks them- they don't need the active texture adapter (ATA) rendering, they'll probably clean up the dodgy of kilter cinematics, embed Tidus' name for a bloody change and perhaps add depth and height to the Blitzball Game.

We'll see, if they start tearing apart battle systems then that'll take even longer and push the release back further.

Don't want that now do we.
