08 Jan 2009 - 22:319428
I'm going if I can make enough money by then ID

08 Jan 2009 - 23:579432
I'm going if they ever open up registration.

By the way, for those that have been before, I don't want to stay on site due to the cramped conditions and the "one person per room" rule. So...where do I stay? I've looked and the closest is pretty far :-\

I'll be going, although I'll grudge the £50 a night with all my soul. I already have to pay a fortune to travel there. D:

I should be going, got two others with me so far.

I too have a problem with the one-per-room thing :S will have to either scope out something else, or just make do T_T

09 Jan 2009 - 18:079481
I'm planning to go as well. Prolly will stay on-site for my comfort =/, but not sure. I hope that the pound doesn't go up >_<. It would be my 1st con and I'm going alone .

I'm pondering going seeing as I kept saying I would go to Amecon but never made it >_<

I know, what happened to opening registrations in a couple of weeks from November? £50 is molto expensivo given Ame onsite was half the price. I think it sucks that they're not releasing the non-ensuite rooms till all the ensuite ones have gone. That's just money-grubbing, we should have the right to choose. Unfortunately even if you go for a generic off-site hotel the cost of taxi fares out to the Arts Centre would probably negate whatever you saved by not staying onsite D:

For Ayacon you can only pay online can't you when the registrations open? I don't have paypal though so I don't know how I'm meant to pay for it >.<

In fact, they are not accepting PayPal (I asked). They are doing the online payment with Google Checkout. So, I think you'll need a credit card. But don't believe me >_<. Check on their page.

anyone know if Ayacon and Reading Festival are anywhere close to each other date-wise?
That could save me a whole lot of money...

And yeah, Aya is expensive >-<'
I'm still planning to go though.

Which ones did you check? I found the Formula 1 (no one recomends me this one O.o) and the Ibis, both about 7km away . The first one is about 23£/night and the later 50£, as I checked. The things is that prolly I'd like to have my stuff closer in case for a change or whatever :s

Why not book one room, one person sleeps there and you all keep your stuff there? That way no carting shit around, an all round cheaper hotel thing, and free internet.

My group will probably try to do this. We have the advantage of having a large group of us though. Because if 4 of us go to another hotel taxi's will be a lot cheaper two and fro, and we can keep all the luggage stuff in the room at the con.

That's a good idea for storage and stuff. Problem is, I mostly just want to actually be able to share a room with my girlfriend LOL Hence my questions.

I found the same hotels and I would NEVER stay in the Formula 1 *shivers* I've been shown the rooms...

Ugh... Can't do it... D:

Age limit + expenses = no-no.

Ah well. Maybe in a few years time.

10 Jan 2009 - 23:249547
are they really going to enforce that 1-person-per-room policy?
I mean, surely someone will share rooms anyway. >.>

10 Jan 2009 - 23:419548
Yay i'm going!
I refuse to pay £50 a night accomodation, its stupid!
I was gonna write up a whole caution for people under 18 going after onsite accomodation but it seems Ayacon raised the age limit altogether to over 18s only.

I'll hopefully be going to ayacon as well, but need to see about days of from work before I can be 100% for it. The hotel thing seems a bit messed up though.
