I'm a cosplayer and a prop maker for media and i am planning on making some rupees and a rupee bag.

I designed and 3d printed a plastic rupee to make a mould from so i can make resin rupees, however now i have the moldel in my hand im not sure about my sizing so i figured theres no better place then here to get some advice.

What i want to know is how big do you guys think i should make each rupee for example the plastic rupee i have made to be the green rupee is 3cm long,1.4cm across and 0.6cm thick as shown in this picture:




Do you think this is about the right size for a green rupee and how much bigger should the blue and red rupees be?

My other question is how clear should the rupees be should they be a completly transparent colour or should they be abit more cloudy.

Finally i know there are different rupee bags depending on which game but which one do you think is the most recognizable?

any help on this will be very appreciated, thank you

I've always imagined rupees to be translucent, so you can sort of see through them.

As for the size, I reckon 3cm is okay but don't do any bigger than that

well 3cm is for the green rupee then i was thinking of scaling up the size by .5cm when the value increases, so the green being 3m, blue being 3.5cm, yellow 4cm etc up untill purple.

the resin im looking at getting is ment to be very good for making transparent resin jewls so im hoping they will turn out ok

I think they'd be pretty cool all the same size - the color indicates the value, does the size need to aswell~?
I think they should be transparent, rather than cloudy - they always seemed like precious gems to me.
Personally, I recognize the twilight princess bag most as that's the one I've played the most but I'm sure any would be recogniseable as they all seem to be the same shape with a ruppee on the front x3

Little suggestion: You could make a few extra and stick a hole in and then thread some thread (lol) through and make necklaces - they's be so cute! I'd totally buy one~!

I agree with keeping the sizes the same and also having them clear.

I think the design of the wallet depends on which version of Link your planning on cosplaying?

Tbh anything with that shape and a rupee on the front will probably be recognised as links wallet, so pick which one you like best? =]

i've always been under in impression that the size increasd aswell as the colour change as the value went up, but seeing as you all think that them should be the same size i may make a prototype set with them all the same size to see how well it goes.

as for the bag my intention is to offer 3 types of bag the ocarina of time bag, the twilight princess bag and the skyward sword bag each one will have the corrosponding rupee set

i plan to make about 10 bags of rupees at first and im going to give them away to various LoZ cosplayers at either kitacon or Mcm expo with one of my business cards inside each bag as a way to get my name out there as a prop maker, though i do hope to do a twilight princess link cosplay but its been put back while i find the stuff to make the chainmail.

the necklace idea is brilliant i will also try making keyrings and possibly pinbadges using these rupees.
