My mum made my first cosplay, so she doesn't really give a fuck about what i do in my spare time as long as its not tongue hockey XD
lmaos.

My dad thinks its weird but otherwise doesn't care, and they just like me having as much fun as i want so they dont try and stop me and anything. My mum likes the fact i've started sewing again. and she likes my wigs and stoof. They just try and control my spending, is all.

my parents are pretty cool with it, the help me out alot with planning costumes and keeping within a budget XD
my dad will also go out and buy matirials for props and weapons i make as im cluless as what matirials to use.
plus, they cant really comment on me cosplaying or 'dressing up' as i have several pictures of them at my age dressed up to go play dungeons and dragons ^^

My mum and dad were annoyed about it, so I left home. =D That was 2 months ago.

Initaly, my dad didn't care and made fun of the wigs when I left one out; now he is very happy to source me prop making materials from some of his sources (he gets me epic amounts of cardboard even if I only need a small amount) and lets me borrow equipment and garage space.
My mum was thrilled, she is a sewer (mainly quilting, some clothes making) and has encoraged me to take a form of sewing up since I was young (i've been sewing since I was 4ish). She was happy about me finding a niche where I was interested in sewing.
She is always interested on what i've made and my plans and is good to ask if i've got a construction problem.

My mum thinks it's great, she always loves to see what I'm making and loves the other cosplayers who know her. When it gets close to cons she always offers to help me finish things.
The only thing my dad complained about was the constant noise from my sewing machine as it got nearer to cons and was worried about our sleep pattern getting messed up (like going to bed at 7am then getting up at 11 to start sewing again) but I moved out two months ago so now it's our neighbours problem. X3
They love it even more now I can make some extra money from it through commissions. XD

Sadly im one of these people who's perants actually think im werid because i used not to dress up or anything but then i got into cosplay *sighs* and now my perants are worried about me seeing as im not like the chavs around the area, im just glad i have friends in the city of plymouth that are cosplayers as well just sad about the way people react when i tell them i cosplay or i prefer japan over the uk

Oh well its a battle but i have won!

My Mum is still convinced it's just a phase I'm going through and that now I've moved out of my Uni town I won't have any friends who are interested in it anymore so I won't bother. She doesn't know about cosplay_scotland XD

She's interested in the things I make but only in the finished product. Very mystified about the lengths I go to in order to reproduce a costume, that she is. I tend to play down the number of costumes I make for cons when I'm talking to her about it too. She thought I had one planned costume and another I did because I had some spare time for Ame this year. Actually both were planned and I had a third on top of that which I didn't get time to finish XD

My mom doesn't mind - as long as she doesn't have to sew the outfits! XD. My dad doesn't mind either. I actually get help on my cosplay props from my parents.

26 Oct 2008 - 23:257218
my dad accepts it and helps me buy tons of duct tape and glue xD

and oddly enough my mum seems to be fine with it, and loves seeing photos of cosplayers, and worrying about how hot or cold people are in their costumes. xD

She's always saying she's happy to get the sewing machine out to help me and such, bless her soul xD

so yeah i've never had any bad reaction to it.

Hell when i went to my first ever expo with my parents, THEY were the ones pointing excitedly and going
"OH OH! whats that person from?! They look so beautiful!"
"A pirate!"
"you should go as that costume one year!"

me: .. . .. . .EH!?!?

27 Oct 2008 - 19:187241
my parents think its far too expensive and a waste of time but my usual reaction is..

who cares >8D

they think its just a phase that im going through.
