I'm probably being a huge derp about this but; Can you buy argyle material, I want to cosplay Masato Hijirikawa from Uta Puri and i'll be making a jumper for the first time, and I have no idea what way to attempt this.



Thats the jumper in question, i'm not used to going to fabric shops so i'm asking you guys would they have it in this kind of pattern?

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but the answer is basically no. In all my many years of fabric shopping I'm not sure I've ever seen an argyle pattern, and even if you were to find one, the likelihood of it being the right colours, not to mention the right spacing, is hugely unlikely. You'll also really want it to be a stretch or knit fabric for a sweater, which narrows it down even more. Your best bet would probably be to make a base sweater and then paint or applique the argyle design on top.

Have to agree with Odangochan here.

Unless you know someone with an ebroidery machine or live near an embroidery centre or know how to use a knitting machine with a pop card for an argyle pattern or how to hand knit a sweater from scratch or are a trained weaver... It's time to break out the applique or fabric paint.

I would say applique or fabric paint would probably be the best option otherwise you'll be forever searching for the perfect fabric thats likely not to exist . I've had to do that for my Relm cosplay because a certain type of fabric has been impossible to find so have had to resort to probably dying it if I find something.

There is always the beloved eBay - you could get a similar jumper or something and add felt appliques.
