Have you ever cut all your hair in order to cosplay a character?
If there is a charecter you like very much, or you just have to cosplay a character, would you cut all your hair(bareheaded)?

cut my hair but never shaved my head
the first cosplay i ever did was Sasuke Uchiha from the anime Naruto, as i couldnt afford a wig (or see the reason for needing one at the time) i cut my long hair off and copied his style. Duck Butt hair XD

But never shaved my head bald. o.O

Indirectly so.

I've had to keep my hair short so it fits under a wig cap neater. It's very very thick y'see so even if it's a few inches long it'll be hard to flatten down.

I've also have to shave my soul patch and sideburns off. No big deal as my facial hair grows back in full the next day, but I do get attached to my sideburns quite a bit. I look 16 years old when I've cut them off.

There's been a couple of times where I've had to cut it in the style or a shorter style than I'm used to for Scar, and I may have to do so again in the future.

As for shaving head specifically for cosplay, there's one guy I know who's done that for last Expo as Madarame Ikkaku. His username is Wolfe, he is on this forum however he doesn't have any cosplays uploaded.

Having really short hair anyway really helps when trying to cover it up with wigs. I'd never completely shave it off though because I think it would look desperately odd on me. I might be tempted to colour my hair for a cosplay but using a wig is typically just easier.

I've cut all my hair off, not shaved bald, but I cut it to like a cm length pre-cons for ease of wigs. One of my planned 2012 cosplays will require that I use my own hair at that length, which is just convenient.

Of course, I cut all my hair off every few months anyway, as I like to change my hair colour a lot and every so often need to cut the old colours out and let it grow a bit before putting the new ones in. It's just hair, it grows back.

I havent yet cut my hair for a cosplay, but recently i wanted to cosplay Tifa and my wig never arrived so I dyed my natural red hair black.. grandma was not pleased!

Not shaved it, but I cut it for Lelouch for ease and comfort, rather than getting a wig. I loved the hair cut and kept it at that length for 9 months. Kinda miss it, but not as much as my wonderful green hair :sigh: Unfortunately have this job does not allow me to have funky hair.
I dyed my hair blonde (not bleach blonde, a nice blonde) for Riza Hawkeye, again because I thought it would look better than a wig and be more comfortable. Got the hair but as well. But then, my hair dresser is used to my odd requests. It's not unusual for me to go in with a picture of a character and say 'I want that!' She had fun doing Zexion (never cosplayed him, I just loved that haircut) and Lelouch.
Oh yeah and for my first cosplay, Sailor Mercury, I had my hair cut and spray-dyed it.

same here. My hair is partial Afro, so the week before i go to a convention I have it straightned and cut to above my shoulders so it will stay flat under my wig.

I also know a guy who's shaved his hair for Ikkaku, he's called Ikkaku-kun on here, and he does still have his stuff up so here's him as Ikkaku! I don't think he's been on for a while though...

I've never shaved my head for a character, cause I've never had the need to, and considering you CAN get bald caps which you can colour with makeup, I probably never will. However, I do use my own hair if it's easier. IE I will be having it cut so it will suit Edward Nigma.

Short hair is hard to do as a wig. And I suit short hair anyway, so I'm not really that bothered.

My mum isn't too happy about it though.

Well if you check my Lust cosplay that was my real hair, then check my superman costume and see my hair there, I cut quite alot to do Superman. But tbh I probably would have cut it anyway as I fancied a change.

I both cut and dyed mine for Ramona Flowers last year, and I just recently dyed it again for Moira Brown!

I don't think I'd ever shave my head though, especially since I can't see myself cosplaying a bald character! XD

I don't think I could cut all my hair off but I have cut my hair for cosplay. Usually its basic things mind like cutting in fringes, adding layers or just generally making it shorter but I'm too fond of my hair to cut it all off.

My hair used to be really long, almost knee-length, actually. And then I cut off my hair to cosplay Meiko from Vocaloid because the wig looked awful on me.

I want my hair back~~~~. D8

I wouldn't be brave to cut my own hair cos I really suck at it XD I used to have long hair when little but since, I've always kept it short as it's easier to maintain - I haven't done anything drastic with my hair for cosplaying - it's only when I wear light coloured wigs (blond wigs mostly) then I find I have to trim my sideburns and bits of my hair line from showing XD

When I first started cosplaying, and had no idea about wigs, I did (my first expo I thought everyone with a wig was just really good at doing their hair xD)

I chopped off my hip length hair and had it cut the same way as hinamori from bleach, then cut it even shorter when I discovered death note and dyed it red briefly.
And for lilinette I cut my hair to the style in the hotel room on friday, as my friend forgot to grab the wig she was lending me whilst packing xD

If I do happen to be cosplaying a character and their hair coincides with what mine's like at the time I'll use my own about a month ago it was Nia [ttgl] hair, now it's flat aqua though, and I'm not sure I can do much with that...

I'm considering to shave my neck hair of because it doesn't ever feel like staying udner a wig cap. I might dye my hair a bit lighter for Expo Octobre 2012, seeing as my hair is really long, and it would be difficult to find a comfortable wig that is long enough to do the charactre I'm intending to do then. (secret cosplay ^^)

Truth be told, I don't think many women can pull off bald, so I'd probably not want to cosplay any bald characters anyways (I don't crossplay generally, and I only know if about 2 female bald charries anyway).
I know of one Jack (Mass Effect 2) cosplayer who shaved her head almost-bald then shaved in patterns for the charrie.

I merely settle for cutting mine short for some cosplays, though there're more I tend to do with long hair. At the moment I'm letting it grow out for FFX Yuna but keeping it as short as possible for Catwoman (I don't know how the Batman returns Catwoman fit all that hair under the hood =p)

A hair net? It's amazing how much hair you can get under a hat when you've shoved it all in a hair net.

for my past cosplays, I have used my hair. I find it is loads easier to style, brush and such with my own hair than using a wig, sometimes it is hard to find the right wig for styling or you just can't find the right colour wig!
I will never shave my hair off though lol

I had mine cut like L's from Death Note once. It looked ok styled, but styling it day in day out soon lost its novelty -_-

I know two people who have completely shaved their heads for cosplay Defrain for Street Fighter Sagat and Wayne to cosplay a squad 11 character from Bleach... Shiney as a mirror bold...

I've cut my own hair twice, once for Murrue from Gundam Seed and Lady from Devil May Cry 4 to see how the style looked... that's really the shortest I've gone... Needs another cut now

I used to have a mohawk/fauxhawk and a leopard print undershed, though I've never actually shaved my head for cosplay. I would consider it though if I ever fancied being a bald character. I could always just wear a wig or one of my many hats til my hair grew back. My hair is super thick and I keep it short anyway because it's just unmanageable if it gets any longer than chin length.

I've only really used my own hair for about 3 cosplays (not including BLT), 2 of which were for nights out rather than proper cosplays and one of them was chosen because the chracter had the same hairstyle as I already did, the other one I just sort of approximated because, who cares in a nightclub? So that just leaves Bob Fossil and really I used my own hair for that because with minimal styling it was roughly accurate anyway... just had to stick on sideys (a jokeshop tache cut in 2).
