Yes actually =D I'd love to own a maid cafe! I decided that a maid cafe is the cutest thing I could do with my life which would really wind up my mum =D When Cafe Moe opens everyones invited!
Oh another outside hobby I have is searching for rare snacks at stores which is easier now I have a car =P

About my only other hobby outside of cosplay (and reading, watching films & gaming, which are so generic as to be uninteresting) is martial arts. I did Taijutsu for 2 years at university, achieving a red belt, took a few years off while I got settled, and have taken up Muay Thai kickboxing this year. I really enjoy it and it's a huge challenge for me as I have a number of health issues that I have to battle past in my quest to be able to kick someone in the head

Pfft, that just adds to the effectiveness!

Throw in a scalpel and a touch of Propofol maybe a bit of Sux and we've got a back street surgery!

Also, photography sounds like such a happy hobby to be doing. I'm really jealous of that. I always manage to put my fingers in the way if I ever take a photo, it's like having shots of my thumb taken around the world.

I love the idea of Japanese style maid cafes. The one at Ayacon this year was good fun. I'd definitely pay a visit!

That was MOE right? they do events at a cafe in london once every month or so.

I didn't get to take a visit to that at ayacon I was going to go and take notes and stuff but then I never did =( might have to take a trip down to London next time one is on!

That was indeed them. The selection at Aya was a bit limited but the atmosphere was very nice. I think they said they had more choice at their proper events.

@Jae: Bouldering is awesome, but I like the thrill of height. I'm such an adrenaline junkie. If you've never done outdoor rock climbing, get yourself out there! The difference between indoor and outdoor is insane, much harder and more challenging due to the fact outdoors the belayer at the bottom is practically helping you up the wall (if you have a belayer). Get yourself there more often until you're at a grade that you're supporting yourself, much harder and much more fun!

My upper and lower body strength is now incredible due to rock climbing, I can literally haul my entire body upward with one arm hanging onto a rock (I don't recommend this to newbies).

Also, a decent abseil is incredible!

Fellow martial artist! Epic! I've heard a lot of good things about Muay Thai, I actually considered taking it up after watching a few Tony Jaa films!

Health issues always suck, I know a few people in my class with some and I'm forever sympathising with them after the umpteenth push up. Sometimes you do find practise does help you with your health as well, but again that does largely depend on what your condition is to start with.

I want to be able to kick people in the head, but alas I'm not flexible enough... yet. More importantly it's not even part of my style, I usually end up going for the bladder, because why the hell not, it's there.

Music is pretty much my life. My violin is like my baby, I'm very protective over it above anything else haha! I play piano as well but not very well, I gave up long ago and play for fun now rather than learning new techniques to get better. I own a guitar but I'm useless at it, I can only play basic tunes. One day I want to learn the viola, that instrument is amazing and so useful! Orchestras and other ensembles make me happy, although it can be tiring after 5hrs of rehearsals a day, I always go back for more because it's very rewarding at the concerts after all those rehearsals. I'm always eager to play with others, I struggle so hard to play as a soloist though so avoid it as much as possible. One day I want singing lessons though, one daaaay. I actually really enjoy transcribing music and music theory in general. I'm weird, prefer theory over performance.

I also love ballet but had to quit due to Uni, hoping I can find some way of still carrying on though because it was a lot of fun! I did Jazz dance as well but again, dropped it due to Uni.

I don't do it often but I love to bake. I mainly bake stuff for Christmas because it's easier and cheaper than buying individual gifts. I love to cook as well. I experiment a lot (even though I bought a cook book especially for Uni, I haven't used it yet 8|) and find that a lot of fun, although sometimes I overload the spices and I'm found chugging tea afterwards...

Photography is another big hobby of mine, I enjoy being out and about with my camera a lot.

Currently on an Electronic Engineering course. I like to wire up circuits and make diodes explode... (Haven't actually made it explode yet, people tend to stop me from doing so before I turn the power on )

Don't really have the time this year but next year I'll hopefully be taking up Taekwondo or Jiu Jitsu :3 I miss martial arts, will be fun to take it up again!! Want to take up a language next year too. I find learning languages really interesting although rather difficult, it doesn't come naturally so always requires a lot of hard work X___x

Ahhhh I miss martial arts, I did shou shu kung fu for 6 - 8 months which I loved (damn that was a good work out ... you tired player well guess what YOU GOT MORE TO DO). I recently did Aikido for a few months but had to stop just simply due to the dojo I was going to was meaning leaving work an hour and a half after I should normally, go to dojo spend 2 hours training and go home getting home just before midnight.

I have recently found a couple of dojos near where I work and will look towards trying them soon (they are a fair bit more expensive than the one I went to .. but .. they are so fucking convenient).

I have recently rediscovered cross-stitch as something else to add to my list of crafty, sewing things with which I occupy my hours. My nan taught me many, many years ago, but it's been along time since I took any of it up, then I found a Kefka sprite pattern a fews weeks back and it was all downhill from there. I have a Zelda stainglass window pattern which is going to be the death of me that I'm doing for a friend.

I also try my hand at guitar on and off because I love music, but I'm very bad at it and should practise more far than I actually do.

Haha, yeah, Tony Jaa & Jean-Claude van Damme might have had something to do with my choice! (That and the fact that the gym is a 5 minute walk from work...) It's a fun art, though it's a bit less practical outside the ring than something like Taijutsu or most of the kung fu forms. It works for my body type though, I'm more strength than speed, and it gives me a bit more confidence.

I have ME/CFS, asthma, ulnar tunnel syndrome, and hypermobility. It makes it very tough but I'm stronger now than I have been since I developed the ME as a result. Hypermobility means flexibility *really* isn't an issue (our instructor teased us by telling everyone to put their foot behind their head and then looked on in wonderment when I actually did it ) but it comes with its own challenges. Martial arts help me a LOT with coping with my disabilities and I'd recommend them to anybody - you just have to make sure you have an understanding instructor.

I don't have the knowledge yet I experiment - which results in;

I would say Cosplay is too expensive to have other hobbies, but somehow I still manage to afford video games, and destroy mum's kitchen and such. You know, if I didn't play video games, watch anime and read manga then I wouldn't be posting here cause I wouldn't know what cosplay is!

More sedate things are the fact I'm a massive reader, and I love writing and drawing/painting/generally making a mess.

On a really kinda sad thing I also love critiquing things... *nudges fingers*

Those are the main things. I'm one of those annoying people who switch hobbies a lot. In the past I have;
played guitar
played viola
taken karate
taken judo
played piano (to be fair, that stopped cause the piano stopped if you get what I mean)
played recorder
photography!

and other stuff. I really enjoyed all of them, I really did, but... I dunno I missed one or two sessions then found it hard to get back.

At this moment I'm struggling with the issue that I currently have a thing for Glee. I don't know why, cause it's really cheesy and kinda a bit rubbish and naff (in my opinion), but I find myself watching it... O__o

Ha, then you'll fall for me even more if you see me ninja up some sort wall at expo (if you're there) xD

Oh yeah, those two are good. Bruce Lee is forever my idol though, he inspired me when I was very young, his drive and his passion are second to none.

And yeah, obviously you have to be a little careful and think about what you want from your practise. I mean, no offence to any style but if you're learning a competitive style, then sometimes all you learn to do is compete, or fight within the rules of. Learn a street fighting style and obviously that's what you learn, street fighting.

But wow, you're more flexible than me for sure. I'm sort of working on it myself but not concentrating on it, also it's totally hot. XP
