I need help making a mask for my cosplay.
But I dont know how to start, or what to use.

Its an animal mask, or sort of like an anbu mask from Naruto. Im clueless on how to make something like that,
so I need some help ;

I would go for a blank craft mask and build it up with clay or mod roc or paper mache.

A blank craft mask? Is there a way that I can make it all from scratch, and not buy anything as a base?

Wire - foam (Any tbh) Shape wire to desired shape, glue mask onto wire, then Mastik/Calk/Bathroom Filler...

I made my mask <<< from scratch.

Wire base, you'll need pretty strong stuff. I used the heaviest floristry wire. Is floristry a word? Did I use it correctly?

Anyway. Build a wire base, be careful not to have any skews or strange angles as this will be reflected later and warp the mask.

You can fix the wire down with gaffa tape where it crosses.

Plaster strips. Use these sparingly and use enough. You see they are flexible to a degree when set, but very heavy if you use too much. You can cut out eyeholes with a sharp craft knife.

Final layer use car body filler as this is quite light. Sand/smooth/prime/paint/repeat, always repeat. Don't stop unless you have a finish that looks like glass. Use filler primer and spray paint for cars, they give the best finish.

You can sub out some of those steps to use paperclay, but the weave of the plasterstrips do give a fair bit of strength. If I had to change anything, I would have not used filler but paperclay after the plasterstrips. However I'm unsure if the finish I got on my mask would be as good.
