Now, done a quick measurement thing using the technique learnt in A Level art. I'll do one with your height, then one with the allowed height if you're going to a convention like Kitacon. Length (Hilt included): 70inches Width: 8.75" Hilt length: 19.69" To Semi circle (excluding hilt): 8.75" Semi circle diameter: Just above 4.38" (use a compass and half the amount to get it) To circle (excluding hilt): 43.75" Circle diameter: just above 4.38" (same as other diameter) 5ft rule Length (Hilt included): 60" Width: 7.5 Hilt length: 16.875 To Semi circle: 7.5 Semi circle diameter: 3.75 To circle: 37.5 Circle diameter: 3.75 I just want to point out: this is if you were doing it to scale. With these things, sometimes it better to draw it out to how you want it, cause this could make it look small. A cheap way to do it is to use cheap grease proof paper cause it's cheap and easy to draw on, and it's very long and would be roughly the width you want. The curve and details will be easy to add to that, rather than me having to work them out. Also, if you're wondering what I did to get the measurements... The width of the sword is roughly an eighth of the length including hilt. Also, I recommend that you have a core - something this long and fairly thin can result in it floppy. I would say that what ever you do for the hilt, you continue it through it. Use a wooden mop handle, or something similar, then have the rest sturdy cardboard or something. It'll also help give it shape. |
