Hello Everyone

My name is Luke and I live near Oxford. I've decided that I would like to take the plunge by attending Amecon next year and attempting a Cosplay or two. I love dressing up and am very creative.

I signed up here to share my costume creation process, get some tips and help if required and possibly find a group of friends to attend Amecon with.

My knowledge is limited as I've never read a "Manga". I got into Anime as a child by watching stuff on cartoon network like Tenchi Muyo, Zoids, DBZ, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Digimon, Medabots, Outlaw Star, Gundam Wing etc, etc. and I was always amazed, by the quality and amazing storylines compared to American cartoons. As I got older I also developed a love of Japanese video games, such as Zelda, Final Fantasy, Valkyria chronicles, Tekken and others.

I've no knowledge of the other popular stuff that I know a lot of you talk about, such as Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, and Vampire Knight, but I will learn I guess… anyways I look forward to becoming part of the community here, and attending Amecon 2012, despite being a little nervous due to my limited experience.

See you around.

Hey! Weclome

you could always get up to date by reading Manga online and watching some Anime as in Naruto etc...

Good luck at Amecon

P.s you'll fit in no problem!

Nice to meet you. I'm an ex-Oxfordite myself, so I'm rather fond of the area.

If you're looking to get in to more anime Full Metal Alchemist is definitely a good one to start with (other good series for someone new to the scene IMO would be Evangelion and Code Geass). There are actually two FMA series, since it was remade around 2006. I like both but in my opinion the first is the better to start with. Anyway digressing somewhat.

You should definitely attend Ame, it's a truly brilliant event. If you're thinking of cosplaying maybe check out the Ame forums nearer the time and you may well find some others doing costumes from the same series, which is a good way to meet people. If you play a lot of games then there are always people cosplaying from various computer games as well as anime.

Being a little older I love the animes you named, they're all classics!

I haven't watched much new anime because there's still too much of the old stuff I've not yet seen so I'm content getting through that. I don't read manga either but thats the best part about cons - you can be into any part of anime/gaming/manga fandom without needing to be into it all.

I hope you have a fantastic time at Amecon its a great con to start with

Thanks for the warm welcome.

I'll certainly take all of your advice on board, and I'm glad to hear that Amecon gets the thumbs up.
