The Ranting/Venting Thread
Hey guys, as we all have no doubt seen that other thread which shall not be specifically named has been closed I decided to make another similar one.

Cosplay trouble? Had a bad day? Someone said something that made you rage? Indulge your rage in this thread and get everything out of your system while hopefully being able to laugh about it at the same time.

First off, incase there's any confusion I would like to set the record straight.

1. This thread is not limited to just cosplay related stuff, but is by all means, included.
2. Please do not argue with each other here, or preferably anywhere on this site.
3. I have to say (as it has been said before) be careful what you post, remember cosplayisland is a public forum, and so realistically anyone could view your posts.
4. On a related note, don't make things too personal or too serious, and definitely we do not want to see any threats against yourself or other people. Again, anyone could view your post so it's just as much for your benefit.
5. Do not treat this thread as a place to look for solutions to all your life's problems, if something is seriously bothering you, talk to someone you know an trust or even get professional help. Most people here are your friends but we're not your counsellors.

That being said, let the ranting commence!

The one I adore is leaving the country for a year.

This in itself does not please me, as I'll miss her dearly and it'll be tough without her.

What fucks me off is that the few people I told about it seem to completely forget who I am. Sure, they're only trying to help, but come on. This is me we're talking about. I run on logic, not emotion.

I don't need pity, sympathy, solutions, hope, or any stock responses that I would hear a thousand times over from everyone anyway. These people who I've told have known me for years, since when did I become the kind of person who needed support like a weakling?

I know I'm human too. But that doesn't mean I think or operate like the masses.

I've stopped talking about it, and in the future I'm going to think twice who I'll open up to. Maybe my friends don't really understand the extent of how differently I think. I am able to feel quite deep emotion for the individual who is going away, because I want to.. and at the same time I'm able to discard 95% of the negativity I feel of her going because I don't want to feel it. I simply get over it and get on with my life, happy for her in that she's starting a new exciting chapter in her life.

And yet those around me seem to feel bad for me, I find this all irrelevent, and weak. I'm a little dissapointed that after all these years they still don't fully understand me, or think this is all an act.

By the by, any sympathy for this post is irony, and will be met with sarcasm and mocking.

Just gonna say that maybe its a good thing the previous one closed. Despite the general use of it, if people felt it wasnt being used for its purpose, in the general discussions board, well thats their opinion.
At least with this, people shouldnt be able to say that this ISNT being used the way it should be.

---

On a more reasonable, less twunt-filled area, work is driving me round the bend.
Its worrying, the amount of high-school kids who seem to have trouble spelling.

Had a bunch of kids come up at once to change their passwords, so to save the trouble of them waiting around while each of them tries to think of a new password on the spot, i figured it would be easier to reset ll their passwords to 'password', and that they could change it themselves once they had logged on.

How wrong I was, about half the kids came back saying it wouldnt work. I go to look at their machines, type in password myself and it worked.
It only bothered me more, due to the fact that next to the box where they put in their password, it has in bold letters, the word 'password'...

Even better, one student had mis-spelt their own surname, wouldnt mind if it wasnt for the fact its only 5 letters long...
They have to have passwords longer then that!

@ Matt: Wow, I thought people were dumb when I was at high school! Well, to be fair they kind of were, I always remember the girl next to me asking how to spell "Would." Even then, it doesn't do much for your faith in humanity. D:

@ Jae: Well, you kinda have to expect that really, pretty much all of my old friends didn't know who I was and like you said the are only trying to help, at least they do care enough to try, believe me you should count yourself lucky for that!

Also, the need for others isn't a weakness. We all need help every once in a while, it's just a fact of life it doesn't make you any less of person.

Ok, done. I get the impression you're not too fond of lectures, either.

I know, it is pretty worrying that some of these kids seem to struggle with something so basic.
Ive spent 6 years working in schools, and the quality of the students has just degraded year after year.

Granted, some of the teachers arent much better. There are some who doesnt seem to reaslise that a projector wont work if they dont plug the cable in to both that and the laptop.

Worst case has to be when a teacher was moaning that their machine was broken and that it never works.
Went in, looked at the computer, then turned it on...

The only thing making me sort of rage right now
is people at school. Me and my sister
are the only two in our whole year group
not learning how to drive and everyones treating us like
some sort of alien! O_O

I'm not in any rush to learn how to drive,
plus I would rather get a job and start saving for lessons
then jump straight into it. Sure it's all good passing
your test but then there's the car, insurance, MOT ect.

-Sighs-

I say well done for choosing to wait. As you mention, when you learn to drive at a younger age, there is the peril of all the costs that then go towards buying and keeping a car.

Plus, theres the issues of nerves.
you do the lessons when you are younger and fresh out of school, your a bundle of nerves, make one mistake during a driving lesson, and you are quite likely to panic and freeze up.

Do it later, when you have some experience of the real world, rather then freeze up, its more likely that you will be able to brush it off and just carry on as normal.

I teach periodically and although some of the students are great, there are others that just make me despair. And these are students that got accepted in to a good university.

University bureaucracy is driving me mad at the moment. Various issues are taking ages to get resolved. I'm a control freak, so having these things be out of my hands is a major annoyance. The idea of looking for a job in the near future is pretty daunting too.

On more trivial things I started thinking about cosplays for next year. I kind of want to do Princess Cornelia from Code Geass, especially since some of my friends said they might want to do a group for Ame. But man the right jacket is so hard to find. I'm not good at sewing and so I intended to buy one and alter it but its such a specific shape!

Beads. SO.MANY.BEADS. I need to thread them all onto thick string, paint them, then rethread them onto the leather thonging. I can't paint em' on the leather thonging as then it'll be gold and I want it to stay light brown. D: And there are thousands! I'm going to go crazy. I am never doing this again! I have made sure that my boyfriend slaps me if I ever mention beads for a costume again. XD

I'm a long way out of school and still don't drive yet! Sometimes I think it would be quite useful if I could but really it's nice to think you're protecting the environment a little bit by walking/ relying on public transport.

Hmmmmm I have a few things right now!

One of them, as usual, is money money money!
Then there's trying to convince work to give me full-time hours,

But yeah, mostly they revolve around having no money. That suuuccckkkksss.

Whats with the bloody heatwave?

It feels like the sun has arrived late, and now instead of sodding off, he's sticking around and shining extra bight in an effort to make up for the 'coldest' summer...

I want cool breezes!

I took mainly Winter clothes with me to Uni so I am MELTING with the lack of Summer tops!!
But otherwise I'm quite enjoying the heat, I get to enjoy yoghurts and ice cream whilst it's still the perfect weather

Wait, unhappy thread... Apparently I couldn't buy from Jane Norman without shipping some stuff off to my billing address first for security (first time buying off the website). Which is fair enough, but now I won't see some stuff til Xmas 8'(
Why did Jane Norman have to disappear from Debenhams!? Or even better, why doesn't the local shops sell decent bags!? Accessorize has failed me for the first time ;A;

I agree with the lack of summer clothes in my wardrobe due to being at uni XD So hot x_x

Anywho recently i've been annoyed with a seller who I brought a white wig from, when it arrived it was light grey not white. I kept asking for them for sort it, first they offered forgiveness, second they offered a free wig cap (when i buy another wig from them!!!), third they offered me a part refund of a great $3 -____- they keep saying sorry and that I should let them off as they are a new seller. So I told them I will start a case on paypal if they don't sort this soon! So annoying,it's getting close to expo too! Hope I get a new wig in time =[

Just gonna say that I love the fact the forum trolls can get a rant in, 2 and a half years after a topic has started, and been used for general ranting, and then get it closed.
(And happens to be one of the more vocal trolls too, who happens to get away with alot of stuff)

Probably a good thing. With this thread, they cant argue the toss that a place to 'moan about cosplay AND STUFF', in the GENERAL DISCUSSIONS board, doesnt mean having a general moan, though im sure they will find some way of getting thier veiws in again.

Let this drop please. I've been sent a few messages regarding this comment and don't care which person you're referencing but just leave it alone. It has been dealt with by two staff members and it's locked.

I'd actually like to see this one stay open ok?

Back on topic.

I'm gonna go ahead and rant a bit about my trek to work. I'm currently doing a 1.5 hour journey where I leave my house at 6am and don't get home until 8ish (Today is an EARLY day LMAO). I've also just been told that at the end of each school day I've gotta do extra lessons...

So...I guess it'll be leaving at 6am and arriving home at 9pm from now on *sigh*

Yeah, I did what you did, although I was saving for a gap year rather than driving lessons. I would say don't leave it too late, though. I started learning at 22 and I have really struggled - I think the older you get the more you freak out about doing the driving test. I will pass eventually though! (I think I've failed 6... 7 tests? I stopped counting XD)

Yeah, already had a few give me a bit of a bollocking about it (though some had been understandable when i explained who it was about)
I wont mention it again, though I will say its best i left it at that rather then name names, otherwise this, or myself, would definatly be on the road to blockage.

Edit: Tell you what, to avoid further issue with this, I'll edit my post into a more generic comment. Youve still got the old post quoted, so I cant say I never said it, but it should stop the ones who are wrongly assuming its a pop at them from having any more issues.

Going back to normal. Ive gotta say that I thought my journey to work was long enough at 40 minutes, but thats something else!

Argh, my rant is that apart from the afore mentioned heat I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt and I'm still boiling! D

I had a cold on Monday? Very minor, only lasted about 2 days so that wasn't too bad, what's annoying me is the fact that by all practical purposes I feel fine, but I've been constantly blowing my nose and coughing up loads of horrible stuff all week now and I'm getting fed up of it!

Least I have old stuff I can pull out.

At least you're able to wear a t-shirt and shorts - I've been at work which is a shirt, black trousers and sensible shoes - and the area I was in had NO VENTILATION!! *dies*

Connected to that, this sudden heat wave has really set off my skin condition, and it's absolutely horrible and hurts and is generally nasty and has been aggravated by evil room of DEATH. And I'd go whinge to the doctors but I did that last year and they couldn't do anything about it. The only good thing is that I have some stuff from the body shop which kinda helps. Well, it dulls it to an itch rather than being painful.

Another thing is that my driving instructor cancelled my lesson, so now I have another week to panic about learning how to drive! Also, I want to learn how to drive etc by Kita IV so I can do big cosplays, but the later I start the less likely it is to happen!!!

And I need a new job! The lavender Farm is seasonal!

And the bus was late today! Over 30mins!!!

rantrantrantrantrantrantrant. I'm not in a good mood today! lol

Oh, I'm also on Killer Croc's Lair in Batman Arkham Asylum and I don't want to do it cause I'm a giant wuss who screams like the girl I am whenever Killer Croc jumps out.

I'm trying to get a job, dammit!

But yeah, a lot of people I know don't seem to agree with the heat very well. Have you talked to your boss about it? If it's a medical condition maybe they could make a special arrangement? Even if you can just go for a glass of water every now and then.

And play Clock Tower 3. "Hmmm, think I'm safe here." *Serial Killer ambush* "HOSHI- WTF-" *Dies*
