is anyone part of the scout association and if so tell me what ur unit does

im from a unit called orion ESU
we are based in solihull
and we do 4 major event like apex challange and extreme and gilwell wintercamp and 24

maaannnnn, long ago (about 16+ years ago!). I left because my group was disbanded due to shrinking numbers, and we were supposed to be absorbed by a bigger group. It didn't feel the same though, and after a few weeks most of my group left.

In retrospect, I think it was probably because of it being such a bigger group (about 5x the size of ours) it just wasn't as engaging, and it was far more inner city compared to our old one which was in an old town hall in a countryside village.

Sad thing was I'd been there since I was like... 7.

well our unit only started with 4 member but over 5 years we expanded to 17

and i feel sorry for u scouting has got better over the years

I'm actually a Leader for a troop in Brighton and Hove, just came back from the Jamboree in Sweden! And I ocassionally help out at the Hove Explorers, and things like the Overland and Downsman challenges.

We don't really have much Network stuff going on down here (or SAS if you prefer...!)

I did meet a guy once at Ame last year who went to the ball in his leader uniform, so there are a few scouty types, maybe we should all get together at a con and get some cosplay poineering going on!

ah cool 2 member of our unit went to the jamboree
and the scout cosplay get together might be a good idea or if there are any scout events that go on mabey our unit may attend

I still like to think I'm in Scouts despite my area not having a Network set up =( I went to the last world jamboree, the one in Chelmsford, ahh that was awesome =D I actually met a guy wearing an Urahara hat who got me more into the world of anime and cosplay, Scouts makes a great impact on your life somehow =3
