Hello all, rather than show you a low rez picture of the character I'm cosplaying for MCM October, I figured this photo of another cosplayer doing it VERY well would be better as the materials etc are easier to see.

First of all, I'm completely stumped about where to look for those ankle pouches. I'm not even sure if I could make some as I wouldn't know where to find the materials. It looks like a minor detail but I've seen cosplays without them before and it looks a little incomplete.

Next we have the eyes. At the moment I've got a red morphsuit from Morphsuits and thats working fine, I'm just not sure how to go about adding the white. I was going to just cut a small pair of holes for my eyes and sew the white onto the top but I'm having trouble finding a suitable looking material thats just as easy to see through as the spandex.

I'm looking forward to hearing some ideas and bouncing a few things back and forth.

You could just make a box out of some sturdy material such as thick cardboard or something like that and wrap it in leatherette and you can either get some small belts from somewhere like primark and attach them or go to a shop like here and buy some strapping.



There's two things you could try, you could try and find a white zentai hood by itself (someone here might even have a hood that they removed and not need anymore) or find a place that sells white 100% lycra/spandex fabric and then attach that to the zentai suit where you cut the holes out as it's basically the same material.

That is a FANTASTIC idea for the pouches. I'd never considered anything quite like that. I can get more than enough cardboard from work to make something up. Thanks you've completely solved that one for me.

I've looked around for some spandex materials on eBay etc but never had any success. I'll put out a request in the marketplace for some tomorrow morning and see if anything crops up.

You could maybe ask here if they do samples as that stuff is only 18% lycra but might be see through enough. Or you could maybe get some white lycra tights (unused obviously ) and hack them up as you're only needing a fairly small continuous piece of material. Even one tight might be enough.

If you'd like to recreate the look of the lenses on that spidey here's how:

They frames are sculpted and cast in a flexible material, like a rubber, and the actual see through-y eye bits are layers of fine mesh, painted white with a layer of think clear plastic over the top to give it a nice sheen.

You can either give it a bash yourself, or buy them from someone premade
