Minamicon 18
Who's going then? The registrations should be open around November like last time.

Dates for Minamicon 18 are 16th-18th March 2012.

Yay Minami I was so ill last time so am really looking forward to this one and enjoying it properly instead of being zombiefied. Not to mention our epic SRW group if we can get people going on starting their costumes

A friend of mine has been hassling me to go to this one, though I like to be realistic in terms of how close cons are and how that will affect me financially so I am torn between checking this one out and Kita. As much as I'd like to go to both, I'm just not sure that me and my other half can fork out for both when we need to consider long term plans, uni, and living in general.

My only trouble is that a lot of my friends are going to Kita, whereas this one friend who is dying for me to go is demanding that I attend this con. Both sound appealing, but this friend also has a habit of 'claiming' me for the entirety of the weekend.

Decisions, decisions... :/

If it helps you choose, it's not a party con like Kitacon. There's a disco on the Friday night and that's about it. Everything ends at about 10pm each day. It's very much a small con, but I go as it's where I live.

Yes, Minami is very much a chill con - you go for the people who are also going, rather than the events. If you think the chances of you knowing anyone else going apart from this friend are slight, then perhaps you're better sticking with Kita if you don't want to be stuck with said friend for the whole weekend. On the upside, it is a great chance to get to meet new people in a relaxed atmosphere, in contrast to the summer con where people are rushing around.

It's also almost as fun to 'loser con'. Both times I've gone, I've loser con-ed it and had a blast both times. The people are great there and you always end up making new friends and talking to some great people.
I'd love to go this year, but it isn't possible due to geographical reasons.

Yeah I'm probably gonna loser-con it this time around tbh. It's not really my kind of con, I just go there to see people.

I should really check this con out, since I live like 30 minutes down the road from Southampton and I guess it would be worth meeting a few people who live in the area that cosplay, because it's always better when you know more local cosplayers.

Is it good for that kind of thing? I mean from the sound of it, it's like meeting people and chatting etc.
