Best place too buy costumes?
Hey guys, I was just wondering the best sites to buy costumes for as I'm rubbish when it comes to sewing. The costume I want I'm not using ebay for so not really sure what sites to trust etc.

Any help is much appreciated x

If anyone says cosplayfu, be careful about buying from them.

I've actually book marked the outfit there - http://www.cosplayfu.co.uk/product/Miku+Cosplay+%28Black+Rock+Shooter+46-006%29+from+Vocaloid/

I would recommend TokyoToys. http://www.tokyotoys.com/
They do sell cosplays although they mostly sell accessories and stuff like that.

I haven't actually bought from them but they are popular and they do seem legit.

I'm looking for a Black Rock Shooter outfit, I'm a bit picky tbh... reason I'm finding it so hard. The jacket needs to be the shiny pvc but I'm hoping for a little less shiny in the under garments. It's going to be a pricey cosplay I think, trying to keep costs down without losing quality which is alot easier said than done

I've heard good things about cosplaymagic.com and hellocosplay.com

Not gonna lie though, I've never tried them myself but I think they're quite well established. Might be worth a look?

I've shopped at Cosplaymagic.com before. There costume was ok.... the measurements were a bit off and I had to pay to get it altered but it was fast shipping and good quality.

They don't stock the black rock shooter costume though or I'd be more than happy to shop with them again!

If you're 'fussy' about what you want or finding it hard to find the right costume, you're best bet maybe to have it commissioned. I suspect it will cost more though (never had a commission, so I have no idea)

FM-anime are generally pretty good and have a vast array of costumes to choose from. Although you can sometimes get sizing issues (things come too big), that's not the be all and end all. With the prices as cheap as they are it's not too much if you have to take them to a seamstress to be taken in a bit.

If you have an issue with some sites not doing certain costumes, you can always email them and see if they would be happy to. Cosplayfu (which I have used and never had an issue with) does this. Also, some ebayers are pretty damn decent. Hunny Lee has brilliant items, really good quality. She's happy to make almost anything

Milanoo IS a tricky one.

Before I brought anything from them I've read more negative than positive reviews, but all seemed to talk about how their dresses came out or their Lolita clothing was a disaster.

It did worry me some, but then I found out one of my friends brought something from there tailor made at a reasonable price and it looked simply perfect!

Slightly relieved, I tried as well buying the SAME product but not tailor made. My cosplay came around a few weeks later than the estimated date AND they printed the logo instead of sewing in the badge, otherwise it was decent.

Yeah it seems it can be a bit hit and miss with them but i've always bought from them tailor made and i've never had a problem =]

Unfortunatly it seems others haven't been as fortunate =/

I'd definitely recommend Cosplay FU!

Their cosplays are always EXACTLY like the photos and very good quality.
I bought the costumes for my Canada (uniform) and Azusa (K-On! school uniform) cosplays if you want to see my gallery.

Their prices aren't bargain prices but they're not too high either, they're pretty decent prices and you have to remember that you're paying for quality.

I'm curious about why Mycroftwave said to be careful with them, I've had really good experiences and heard really good things about them from others too.

Also - do NOT buy from Milanoo. You should see some of the horror stories from people who have bought their products.

Just had a look and they do the boot covers I need so I'll get the boot covers from there.

But yeah... between cosplayfu and milanno it does seem to be a bit of a hit and miss. Maybe I should wait for a lucky week lol.

I've emailed a shop on ebay asking if they'd just commission the jacket for me. I'm pretty sure I could get the under garments else where. I've came to terms it's going to cost me and arm and a limb anyways so I'm not to worried about price.

I mean 'horror stories' about really terrible quality products that looked nothing like the product advertised and the company just generally being terrible to deal with.

Yeah, by 'horror stories' I mean stories of people who have bought from them and recieved terrible quality products that looked NOTHING like the product advertised (Many of their photos are stolen) and the company just generally being bad to deal with.

I'm not defending Milanoo or anything but from my experiance it is a definate hit and miss. From what I've seen so far the cosplay side of things they seem to be fine or at least manageable, especially if you get yours trailor made I've seen it first hand. But I know you can probably get better.

But most of these negative reviews seem to be about Lolita etc or anything else besides some cosplays or asking for them talior made. I've yet to see anyone reviewing 'horror' stories about their cosplays in particular...

I get mine from all different sites depending on their quality as I lack the sewing skill
I'm also starting to get more things commissioned as they usually come out with better results. Cosplayfu is only really good for small things like shoes and stuff like that.
I brought a cosplay from there and it wasn't good at all xD
I ended up having someone make me a new pair of trousers as the ones that came from the site ripped, and the jacket had to have major altering done to it . . . but I guess some cosplays may be better then others from that site . . . i'm just too fussy with detail.

I'm really shocked about this! :o
I've only ever heard really good things about them before and my own experiences have been very very good too. I've had friends buy from them and their cosplays were very good with no problems too.

The only problem I had with them was very minor and that was a loose button on my K-On! uniform but that's no problem worth noteing at all.

The quality of the cosplays that I have gotten from them were really perfect.
