Sewing straps to a dress
I have a dress that I need to cut and add thin straps to. I am just wondering if people recommend sewing, say, bra straps to the inside of a strapless and backless dress. Do the straps tend to hold or is there a better way of going about this?

I have never sewed in my life, but what I'm trying to understand is this.
When you buy bras, or some dresses that are strappy, usually they have those adjustable bits on the straps to make them longer or shorter. Maybe you could do that? Or I'm probably talking about a whole different thing altogether.

Unfortunately the dress isn't strappy at all, although bra straps are obviously adjustable so they shouldn't be too difficult to sew providing they don't snap. I think I'll try my luck and buy a cheap one tomorrow!

Could you provide a picure of the dress and what you're trying to turn it into? That might help us see what the best way of altering it would be.
