Wanted: Secondhand Sewing Machines
Well, this is a long shot but here goes...

I've started saving up for a sewing machine to aid my cosplaying, and I thought it may be a good idea to look around for any second hand ones as well as new ones to save some monies, as I'm not exactly loaded.

I'll probably end up opting for a new one, but it's always good to check, so if you (or someone you know) have any old sewing machines which you/they no longer need please PM me or leave a comment.

I'd need a bit of detail about the machine as well as a rough price, thanks!

May I ask what your price range is? John Lewis do cheaper sewing machines (if you are from the United Kingdom) with one being £50 for their standard basic starter one. I personally wouldn't recommend it, it's a pain in the total ass to use. It has no light, small foot pedal and limited functions, but if you don't really care, you could go for it, as it would get the job done.
The next one up from JL is around £100 and tbh is a decent machine and is the one I use. It's got a variety of functions, a light, is a lot bigger and the foot pedal is good too. The only thing I have found I don't have when I have come across needing things is the over locking function.
Anyway, sorry! Hope this helps you a little bit.

Go on Freecyle or Gumtree. You may find yourself getting one for nothing!

I might be selling my Prolectrix 8-Stitch Sewing Machine if I can find a better one (need one with satin stitch dammit!)

They usually go for £30 without postage new on eBay, so would maybe £20 without postage be an okay price?

I've got this one for sale secondhand: http://www.dunelm-mill.com/shop/standard-sewing-machine-79209

I found it to be a good machine (despite the rubbish reviews it's had from other people). It has both zipper and button hole sewing feet, and can do various different stitches. I've barely used it. I'm selling it because it won't sew leatherette/pleather. Also my mums friend gave me her old sewing machine so I don't need two of them.

I paid £80 for it so I'm looking for £50. It still has the box, instructions, and all accessories.

Thanks I'll have a look on those sites too.
My price range is no more than £70 as I know I can get a new one for that price. Obviously I'd prefer less for a secondhand one, unless it hadn't been used.

For now I'm just after a basic machine really while I get used to costume making, I'll upgrade at a later date haha.

That would be perfect
Please let me know if you do sell it, as I'd definately be interested!

Thanks, I may be interested in this if PirateToaster isn't selling hers, or isn't selling it soon.

That is if you still have it then, don't hold onto it though, as I can't guarantee I'll take it.
