Hello people
My name is Alice and I am brand new to cosplayisland and I am a complete Cosplay virgin! I've been thinking of cosplaying for a while but never really had the guts to do it. But I went to hyper Japan last month (not cosplaying) and had such an amazing time, but i knew it would have been even more awesome if i had cosplayed, as it just looked like so much fun! Thus here i am *waves* ^_^

I think I'm in a similar to situation to alot of other poeple on here; being I'm the only one out of my friends who knows what cosplay and anime is (also who is aware that a Manga is not a tropical fruit *_*). So I'm hoping I'm going to be able to meet a lot more people who are in to cosplay/anime and be nice to get advice from people who do this alot, and hopefully make some friends as well! I never knew there was as many cosplayers in the UK as there seems to be, so thats a really pleasent surprise!

Just to add some of my favourite anime at the moment: Black Butler, OHSHC, Soul Eater, Hetalia, Baccano!, Tiger and Bunny (there's more but i don't want to ramble more than I am)

My favourite part was ALL of the Switzerland/Liechtenstein picnic scenes

I realised something awesome about it - the Pict got to Italy and Germany - but not to Austria or Hungary, which makes sense because the Swiss Barrier of Constant neutrality is between Germany and Austria!
Still, Ukraine should have had a bigger part in the movie. She's adorable!

She wasn't in it enough and I agree I have yet to find a more adorable character than Ukraine! I feel like the Baltics and Poland weren't it enough either...apart from appearing in tutu's! That would actually be such a randomly awesome thing to cosplay...the Ballerina Baltics! ^_^

Oh my thank you, I never knew about this song! It's super catchy but kinda creepy as well...a bit like Russia (and Belarus really)
And its taught me how to say 'I love you' in Russian...learn something new everyday

And it's called "Carrot and Stick" because in episode 42, Belarus is described as a dictatorship skilled at the "carrot and stick" method (alternating reward and punishment to motivate people) and they're singing to Russia - he wants Ukraine to stop avoiding him, but he's creeped out by Bela - so, to Russia, Ukraine is the "carrot" and Belarus is the "stick"!

Just read it now, it actually works really well which i find kind of rare for crack parings! And now that relationship just seems to strangely work in my head now...never thought i would say that about an Austria/Belarus paring o_O

I don't know why but i find something almost sweet or innocent (never thought i would describe Belarus that way) about all the ways in which she tries to impress Russia!
And the thought of her 'disposing' of the uncooperative piano...and of course Austria's reaction to this

Have to admit as much as I do love the randomness of Hetalia i aboslutley LOVE historical Hetalia Fic's! Must go find more now

If you like historical fics, I'd recommend The Daughter Of Turul - five chapters, Hungary-centric, dealing with the German occupation of Hungary and Russia's invasion of it during WWII

I'm actually terrible at finding fic's most the ones I read just leave me thinking 'what the hell' (and not in the general hetalia way )
At least it seems impossible for me to find any good histroical fics!
That being said though, i think i get overwhlmed by the amount of fanfic's in the hetalia communtity (I fail when given more than a few options *_*)

I find the best way to find good fics is to look on TVTropes' recommendations list Here you go, if you want it

There are sections for really good pairing fics, general fics, crossovers, and the slightly darker fics. The historically-accurate ones are usually quite dark, but there's an Austria/Hungary-centric one that is absolutely AMAZING, and deals with the fallout of WW1 and I love it <3
Anyway, the moral of this is that I read far too many fanfics, and message me as soon as you're done with Turul, and I'll hook you up with some REALLY good stuff, mkay? ^^
