Wig tangled! Help, please? D:

So after Manchester Expo my wig got tangled as hell!
I cosplayed as Taiga from Toradora! And i was wondering before i do TRY and attempt at brushing it, would the curls fall out? Or is there a special way to do it? I don't want to ruin the curls, it has a few knots in it, but they can be easily cut out (they are small so you shouldn't see the difference)

I've never had a long wig before, yet never tried brushing one D:
I'm too paranoid to brush wigs with curls in them. It has been hair sprayed (The curls) but not TOO much.

Help is much appreciated!

<3

First things first, please stop typing wholly in bold, there's no need. And it makes me think I've drunk too much already >.<
Secondly, to brush a wig you need a wig brush and some detangling spray and simply work from the bottom going upward.

Sorry, D: It's just easier for myself to re-read my posts. Vision problems suck, so yeah sorry for being in bold D: but i won't put it in bold for you if you can't read it.

I guess that's a good idea, except i don't have that kinda spray D:

This is going to sound stupid but bear with me:

Herbal Essences Conditioner

Preferably one for dry damaged hair or either the light green bottle which has icy pineapple in it or the blue one which has coconut and smells of bubblegum.

Working slowly, put some conditioner on your hands, work it into the problem areas, you might need alot for certain areas. Whilst working it in, try your best to detangle anything you possibly can with your hands, but do it slowly.

Then you can take the brush to it like has already been mentioned, from the bottom up. I don't mean brush backwards, just lightly brush out the tangles from the bottom most tangle and work upwards.

You'll never get the wig back to what it originally was, such is the annoyance of long and curly wigs unfortunatly, but it will help and you don;t have to wash the conditioner out.

NOTE:

I have tried and tested this method of using human hair conditioner on long wigs for over 6 months now and it has proven to be successfull.

You can also use this method to pre empt tangling. Just run some conditioner through the wig fibres, try to get as much covered as you can (but not litterally plastered in it) brush it through, let it dry. This should help to combat tangling but it wont eliminate it completly. Nothing stops that.

Seconding Herbal Essences. I use the blue one too - coconut. I've used this for most of my long wigs and they're all really smooth (and smell nice).

I've never had the need to invest in wig detangling spray because Herbal Essences does the job just fine and I use it for my own hair so it's already in hand.

Sorry don't know how to detangle wigs but I just noticed your comment and if your text in the browser is too small to read properly you can hold down the Ctrl button on your keyboard and scroll your mouse wheel up which will zoom all the text in a bit making it easier to read. (You can also hold Ctrl and press the +/= button AFAIK only works on a PC though)

Completely unrelated but I did this accidentally without knowing what I was doing once......it freaked me out, I actually thought someone had managed to hack my computer and was messing with me....back when I new nothing about pc's.

Saying that, I still do things like that to this day and have no idea what the hell I did.
