Right, as you young chaps (probably say) we were pretty "stoked" for doing Arya for October. Trouble is we've suddenly got a house move on our hands, which is going to take up some time and our other October costume might be more complicated than we thought. Doesn't mean we're not going to try and get it done, just means we can't guarantee it. Will keep you informed.

So after a lot of dithering Arya is back on. We've got the trousers sorted, found the materials for the top and the sword will be straightforward (probably), but we have hit a snag.

Arya has a ruffly draw string arrangement for her top. Anyone ever done one of these before?

No, but I know how to make them.

You literally just need to make the collar/top of the shirt way too big for her neck (probably to the side where it would just sit on her shoulders). Then, you hem it over, put two small holes to fit the "string" through, and thread it through and pull it so it's the fit you want it.

I don't think you can see Arya's drawstring bit, so if you hide it on the inside then it'll still be easy to take on and off.

EDIT: Although, you could do the same with elastic and seal the hem up. It'll do the same thing.

On the drawstring, I'm not sure if it's visible or not either. Haven't found a clear enough image yet so it looks as though it's lots of freeze framing to try and be sure.

Edit: Sod's law or good fortune. Just found an image - the drawstrings can be seen so even more thankful for your help!

It's easier when you own tops like it. I love that style of top, so have about four of them. And yes, I've done them up to that tight too :3

EDIT: On one of the images on the cosplay progress, it actually has it twice. The principal is the same though, and you only need to folder the material under a bit, then go up.

You can also see the drawstrings, so that's answered lol.

Definitely wanting to do a Jaime Lannister costume after finally getting to watch Game of Thrones and absolutely falling in love with it. Gotta love the bad guys.

hello everybody, I´m glad I find so many GoT fans. These are my first costumes and they were so much fun. I already did catelyn, jon, bran, hodor and rickon but I still want to do more characters.I cosplayed catelyn and I will love to do Ygritte the next. She is too young for me but I really like her in the books, I still have to decide if I get real or fake suede, not only because of the money but it would be harder to work with it. I have to learn so many things...

My son wants to cosplay Gendry so I guess we will have to try that one too. He said he wants to specialize in bastards ( I have no clue why)

A few of us are doing a North of the Wall group on (i believe) the friday of expo. lots of wildlings and nights watch :3 i myself am doing Benjen Stark ^^

Awww, will you be doing GoT on the Saturday as well? My group are doing it on that day and can't make the Friday But very excited to be Tyrion
