Ok i've been looking through the net and well i can't find much so i'm looking for someone who knows a bit about Electronics for my VF-1D costume.

The plan is to want the Visor Section to light up green under the dark green perspex visor.

Looking at LED Panels they all seem to need a 12V battery and well carrying a car battery around is not going to be easy.

I'm wondering if anyone can suggest over means to illuminate a visor?

I would suggest buying some separate LEDs and wiring the around the edge of the visor with this tutorial here which Is pretty simple -

It depends on how thick your visor is and how much you want it to glow. El-wire isn't that powerful but gives a low glow, whereas LEDs are much brighter. I have examples of costumes using both methods in my profile and you'll see that the costume using the El-wire requires a much longer exposure to see it with a camera.

El-wire is available in premade units; a lengh of El-wire (1-5 meters) and an invertor runing off two AA batteries. I originally got mine from here. I'd advise not putting the invertor near your head, I found that it gives off a high pitched noise that led to head aches.

As for LEDs, I get all my stuff from here. I used these for the arc reactor and I've included some detail on how I made it. It uses a 3V parallel circuit negating the need for resistors and also means I can incorporate a 3V coin battery in to the unit so no wires hanging out. With this method you'll need additional equipment and supplies however, like a soldering iron, solder etc.

Cosmech, for my Hei outfit I rigged up a 12v strobe light kit under the mask and sleeves. I think I can solve your power problem.

What you need is x8 AA batteries, and one of those 12v battery packs;



It's really easy to rig up. The plastic holder thing I got had a connection like a 9v battery, you can get a little wire;



To connect it to anything that requires a 12v input.

I used the blue duracell ultra batteries and they were really good in not dying on me. I took 3 battery packs and only used one. The packs are cheap to buy, and very discreet. Make 2-3 up and reload when needed.
