What's the worse insults you've ever heard?
From badly thought out to seriously dumb. Chavs, closed-minded people etc.
I've heard christmas ones etc.
I was on the bus in my Link cosplay (For about 10 minutes going up my friends' and I had someone (looked like a chav) shout, "Who're you supposed to be? That Link guy from Zelda, haha"

So i just reply "yeah". To which they say "Well you look like him, haha you freak".

Wait, what? Why thank you mister chav.

Hahaha! I laughed so hard! I've never had any insults to the face, certainly nothing as humorous as that anyway. Although I did wear my Link cosplay to my cousin's 18th a month or so back, and her sister said "You always dress like Link these days" but nothing insulting since she loves LOZ ^-^

yeah, mister chav indeed. In fact, if I plan to cos a role in zelda, I prefer a male role, although i'm a girl.

From some chavvy stereotypical "essex" type girl. You know, the ones with all the slap, fake eyelashes, dark tan etc..

My response:

"Are you dressed up as an orange tango?"

Well, their colour scheme is black and orange..

Oh, thought of another one whilst at Expo:

"Aw, look at all the freaks trying to look cool"

and so I reply:

"Aw, look at all the chavs trying to be intimidating, but guess what? It's not working".

If a chav insults you, just reply with something along the lines of; "Hey, can I use those plastic chains of yours for my next cosplay?"

I can't really remember any now except one girl trying to insult me by calling my Haruhi cosplay a "Chinese uniform" or something. Meh. That's not even an insult but it was a poor attempt to insult/mock me.

You can rub it in their noses cause you've achieved far more with your award winning Cosplays than they'd ever even think of accomplishing in their hum drum dull pathetic existence.

Besides REAL women have curves and know what to do with em , not everyone wants to look like a damned stick insect. I think it seems very unattractive and somewhat unhealthy.

These insults all come from insecure lil f@ckwits who have nothing better to do with their time and little to no imagination of their own.

Keep your heads up high cause you're a Cosplayer and you can do anything you set your mind to. On top of that others (or me at the very least) will see the hard work you've put into your Cosplay and know that you're worth more than the average dull pop cultured chav that seems to swarm amongst the populous of britain these days

Don't let shitheads like that get you down. They have no confidence in themselves, and thus must bring others down in order to feel that they have any worth.

ME: Excuse me? We've just been discussing how I belch in the V&A... then laughed at the echo it caused!

OGF: "Oh..."

Funnily enough, the only comment I've ever actually had was from a Police officer. He just said to me "You look like some kind of S&M freak." (I was dressed up as Ryu Hayabusa.) so I replied "Yeah, you're mum sure liked it." but he just laughed. XD Lookinng back on it, I'm kinda lucky he was just joking around, otherwise he probably could have gotten me into trouble for that. XD

As for insults...no-one has really insulted me to my face, most of the insults I have recieved have been online =/ The same old fat and ugly comments XD I think it's best just to ignore horrible things people say...or to give back as good as you get!! XD

This wasn't so much of a come-back as an example of stupidity on the insulter's part.

I was part of a Marauders group at Expo last May. A bunch of chavs kept coming over, disrupting our shoot and generally being irritating. One of them said:

"Are you 'Arry Potter? I loike tha' game."

*slowclap*

From someone who's had it up to the neck with fat-hate there's only two solutions.

Either you are happy with your body, in cosplay or out of it, then they can't hurt you because you're where you want to be. They have their opinion and that's fine.

Or you accept that they're right, your fat and it's making you unhappy in or out of cosplay. At which point you either sit there and twiddle your thumbs feeling sorry for yourself or get up and do something and be secure in the knowledge that though you may be what you are now you will be what you want to be when you are. (that last bit sounds like something out of Alice and Wonderland XD)

Btw this is not me saying your one or the other, that's just my view on dealing/coping with fatty hate. As, let's face it, we can claim to be full figured curvy women till we're blue in the face but if people want a trim toned surfboard then they ain't gunna like you. Then there are people that like all the more to cuddle and are less vocal about it.

Hit and miss really.

As for general negative comments, people always have nasty things they can say, whether it comes out of their mouth is their problem. Whether or not you take it seriously and let it hurt you, is yours.

You can take pride and enjoyment from your hobby but having the humility to accept it's not everyone's cup of tea is a strength too.

That said...we're awesome 8D

I posted pictures of my Panty cosplay on Facebook, and one of the d!ckish guys from school came up to me like "Hey, what's with the new pictures on Facebook, your pulling your knickers down!"
So I just replied "Yep, 'cause I'm cool like that"

Then a bit later on he walked past me, talking purposely loudly to his friend like "I'm gonna whack one off over her pictures, her full crotch is exposed and everything"
So I was like "Have fun with that, boyo! Shame there's nothing more productive for you to be doing, huh?"

Oh the amount of up-roar those pictures caused... xD It was pretty funny though.

That's the thing about facebook though, you can put up your cosplay pictures to share with your cosplay friends but then when school or prospective employers get hold of them they're not so innocent. If you ever go for an interview I'd suggest you take down the Panty pictures or set them to a private folder, as it's one thing to explain a costume and a hobby but the imagery of a young girl pulling down her pants, though we get it, doesn't strike the right tone elsewhere.

A got a comment on a deviantart picture saying i was fat and my face was had no expression whatsoever...however I was meant to look "dazed" and "hypnotised" so idk.

I was put on 4chan by a certain someone a month or so ago which led to people calling me a "whale in a dress" and commented on gaps in my clevage o_O but tbh that's just 4chan xD I'm just glad I'm losing weight, slowly but still

One thing I see here is that even though some people get upset by some comments and feel a bit self-concious after it seems it also spurrs them to carry on

Chavs always seem to wanna comment on cosplay when they don't know what something is. Mainly they ask me "why's everyone in outfits" so I just say "it's a big fancy dress party." - that's all they can really understand @.@..idiots...

I think it was last year when I went to the MCM expo dressed in gothic Lolita and whilst I was waiting for the bus, a chavvy guy came up to me, looked me up and down and mockingly asked 'hey darling, how much?' I cluelessly stared at him for a moment before realising what he meant and so I laughed loudly and replied 'one million pounds' and then marched off. XD I think I scared him a little with the strange laugh. ~__~ (er, and just for the record, I was kidding when I said 'one million pounds', honestly, I wouldn't do that for money xD)

Another time, I borrowed my friend's Ichigo Kurosaki cosplay and whilst wearing it, I heard some guy mutter 'look, it's another Naruto wannabe'. =___=

Never had it to my face, it's the off-hand casual comments that get to me. I'm one of those stick insects who can't gain weight no matter what I eat. A constant barage of 'no one wants to see a skeleton', 'they look anorexic', 'I can see her ribs, that's just disgusting' really gets to you after a while.

This. FTW! I think it's really immature when people bitch behind backs. I've been out in my link cosplay today and had the whole "Peter Pan" and "Fairy person" comments. They just nmake me laugh. My male friend cosplaying Xiao Qiao wore Red shorts and some chavs kept saying "Porno Shorts" wtf!? If anything, they could've said shave your legs or som,ething. Way to go guys! Fail XD

I've noticed that. They're more confused by what's going on. Where I live, I've had more questions about it than insults.



It's because people immediately presume that someone who's on the thinner side is that they've starved themselves, as that's what one half of the media tells us. The other half says that's what's beautiful and thus anyone not that are ugly pieces of crap and should be ridiculed. There's no happy medium any more.

I admit, there has been times where I've thought "oh, she looks a bit too thin/underweight" but then it's quickly followed by "though I imagine she sees me as a bit fat/overweight..." so... I've never commented on it to anyone. Apart from when my sister says "oh, I wish I was skinny like that..." (FYI she's a size 8-10), so I typically respond with the things you've heard. But that's cause I'm terrified my sister is gonna go anorexic, so say things that will really put her off it.

So true. I'm very skinny, but that was due to eating problems (I didn't have a disorder, but my habits were quite bad). Although I eat better now, I do get sad at how 10 years of my life was focused on eating poorly.
But what if I, and many other skinny people DID have anorexia or bulimia. It's not something to joke about.
Being skinny isn't all that attractive, but I don't look sickly skinny. Just thin. After eating well for the past two years, any protruding bones are now covered. Except my wrists, they're... eww. But not much I can do about it.

If someone told me to "Go eat some pasta or a hamburger", I fucking will do. And you better be watching.

If there was such a thing called reverse liposuction, I'd gladly be the first to get it on the NHS
