Yeah I'm pretty sure this is Proud Asian's site. Pay no attention to it.

Honestly, you'd get more sense out of a brick than you'll ever get out of him.

Bricks can make a lot of sense, particularly when compared to people like him ^___^
At least bricks aren't completely bloody useless!

But yes, as some people are saying... On a serious note, are we going to start expecting to see these people at events? Perhaps not now but in like 10 years or so?

I'm a believer that cosplay is a culture which is going to grow a lot over the years...

Frankly, i'm not surprised that there are people like that. I mean, fascist political parties exist in every country which is democratic, so of course it'll bleed into hobbies. And everyone has their own opinion on cosplay. The majority view it as something anyone can do. Then you have a select few that people shake their head about.

And, tbh, this isn't too far to cosplay Elitism.

I actually thought we'd already moved past that. It seemed like a small number saying crap like that early were made to shut up by some quality costumes.

@ Nixie: Yeah, I'm just glad most people ARE like-minded when it comes to cosplay. I know a lot of people are conscious enough as it is, it's just really not gonna do anyone any favours if people keep talking crap like that... But that's why I like coming here, because most people here cool.

@ Ice climber: Well... Sorta, I think only about 2 people actually answered that last time, though...

That website accuses Western cosplayers of being racist by cosplaying.
I'm sure some people will find racism in the fact they are saying only Asians can cosplay.

Furthermore, even if anybody does join that group, I don't see how anything is going to change.

Also like how "Western" is a race, all of a sudden.

I've been sitting on this for a while, but everytime I here Western I just think of cowboys. Which leads me to think of cowboys cosplay Irvine and the like...

And I think they have... 7? people. I also like that they say that "oh, we have a new server so 'non-asians' can't join.

I've just had my account activated.

I had to test this anti-western barrier. It's failed. I find this amusing. I shall be amused for a while now.

I rarely cosplay Asians. So I don't see the issue.

Bing Crosby invented cosplay. True fact.

I'm half CaucAsian and half Asian, do I win a prize? I can cosplay anyone then

Asia is a huge continent, some Russians are technically Asian, There's the Indian subcontinent, The far east. It ridiculous to group it into one thing. It's the most culturally and ethnically diverse continent there is.

From that encyclopediadramatica article it says he's Indonesian so he's not even Japanese. They have to import their anime/manga like everyone else. Indonesians generally don't even share a culture with Japan, they are vastly different.

We should have a Cosplay Hands Across the World but without any real touching so costumes don't get damaged etc

But they said on that page that they allow Non-Asians in because they don't have a problem with the Western race, just Westerners who cosplay.

I've found a direct contradiction between their Testimony and their actions, your Honour.

If the Japanese/Asians were the only ones who could cosplay then they would have won more than one World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya. Just saying.

I could rant and rave about this, but I'll just settle for roling my eyes and going with the 'half of the characters in anime aren't supposed to be asian and about half of the ones that are don't look asain' camp. If they did then the Japanese wouldn't be so impressed by blue eyes...

And there's the fact that we cosplay from Video Games, Sci-fi, films, etc, so not all cosplayers are even cosplaying media that is from Asia.

Touche, my friend. Guess I was thinking mainly in regards to Japanese media, but you do bring up a fine point
