Wig styling at cons?
I'm looking into this for possibly Fuyucon next year and would really love some opinions on what people think about having a stall offering on the spot wig styling?

Either because of difficulty of transporting it, lack of time or skills, I noticed a lot of people at Ame weren't able to style their wigs or were leaving it to the night before.
I run a comission service already as a few of you know that will have it's own website as of this weekend, and would love to do something like this, plus a pre-masq/comp treatment service including detangling, fixing styles etc at set prices.

For an example of prices I'm looking at; £5-10 for short wig styling, £10-20 for long wig styling and a max of £5 for pre-masq/comp treatments. I'd also possibly be looking at selling pre-styled wigs while up there too. This is really just an idea at the moment but if people are interested I'd really like to do it.

(If anyone is wondering I'm also currently open for comissions, both wig and cosplay accessories, for October expo, Alcon etc.)

This is an amazing idea! How is it doing comissions, if I can ask (the workload and so on)?

I would say to you make some BIG RULES up, like on your right to refuse and so on, or payment prior to the styling.

In the past at cons, I've had people ask me to do wig styling on the day and it would be impossible (due to fibre quality, weft quality etc), but as they do not work with wigs they wouldn't know! So maybe to watch out for that and protect yourself!!

I've only done around 8 atm but I seem to be able to get through them so quickly I figured I could do about 5/6 full ones (Sora/Roxas) in a day if I'm not doing anything else. Something like Euphemia I did in about half an hour so I think it's definitely do-able during term time. ^^

Yeah, I'm definitely going to make some ground rules. Maybe put them in a flyer or on a card for people to take away with them if they want to decide. I think I'll do what I do with my online comissions and do a mini consultation first to explain the limitations of whatever wig they bring with them etc.
I'm pleased people think it's a good idea though! I've never seen something like it done before and it just seems something that I can imagine a lot of people finding useful even if it's just for the pre-masq treatments.

Wow this sounds like a great idea.
I might have to keep a close eye on this *does not have the ability to even style my own hair* xD
But yeah it sounds like an awesome plan, and would get alot of business too.

That sounds like a great idea! I sure could use a service like that! At Amecon I had to style my wig right before I was supposed to use it (and I'm a newbie at wig styling!).. Nedless to say, I wasn't too happy with the result

Although I don't tend to wear wigs I do think this is a great idea.

As soon as registrations open I'll be looking at Minami as my debut. I'm so glad people like the idea, it's making me very excited about doing it! ^^
For anyone interested in what I've done so far (or commissioning me) I now have my website up and running at last!
