There is one soon in Doncaster that me and my freinds will be attending. I think there may also be some in sheffield that we will go to aswell. I'm gonna be coplsying as Kanda Yu form D.gray-man.

I've already been to two of them before and they are quite fun. The guy who runs it really likes when we incorporate things from Amecon into the night

I'm planning on going to one in.. Preston, I think it is on the 10th of September. I'm gonna be using my Sheena cosplay, to make sure that it's comfortable for Midlands Expo that weekend. =)

Btw, when is the one in Stockport?

Come back to me, children!
I attended one of these in Waterstones Soton a few months back...

It was one of the most condesending, embarrasing and downright belittling thing I've ever done o.0

The idea is fine, but the compere they got to do it was the most annoying woman I've ever met. Seriously. No exageration.

She had the officious air of a schoolteacher in primary school, and kept using the phrase "Come back to me, children!" whenever she wanted peoples attention, or the crowd started talking too much. she must have said that phrase...what...50 times? in the course of a few hours?

She also didn't take the criticism of one small childs thoughts on the limited Waterstones selection of manga particularly well...

"Well, have any of you actually READ ANYTHING other than NARUTO or BLEACH?"

...Fair point, but she really lost it.

And, when given the chance to talk about the greatest licence Tokyopop have (That being Keroro Gunso!) she completely downplayed it. Fool!

The whole event is really aimed about promoting the latest Tokyopop titles, but a bit more balance would have been good, I think. There's an awful lot of sitting down and listening like you're back in Primary School story time...Oh and they had a Wii to try out, but of course they only had one game... and one wiimote. Ah well.

So yeah, my thought is to go, don't expect toooo much of it, and hope for goodness sake that you don't get the same compere as we did. Ok, So Shinji may have said my Pyramid Head costume was tubby, but at least he was funny with it

On the plus side, there was a free buffet. I sure ate more than the £1.00 entry fee. Can't help but feel that they took more than £1.00 of my soul that night though.

Ink!

I ended up not going to the one in Preston yesterday. My cosplay wasn't finished, and I wasn't really that bothered about going. I'm considering the Stockport one if my cosplay is finished by then.

I get the feeling it's the same woman that did our Tokyopop: Recon a few months back.. a crazed ginger woman?
I didn't really mind her before the Recon after spending time with her at Auchinawa, but at the actual event she went a bit mental and as a result she's now a bit.. ick.. in my books. She slated a lot of series she was meant to be promoting and made the atmosphere pretty drab.

She targetted and insulted the group I were in all night, saying we were immature (and fair enough we were a little but hell, we were just having some fun) so she made us sit down near the front where she could see us clearly so we "wouldn't cause any trouble".. right. She also roped us into the cosplay competition even though we refused to because we were doing a gag cosplay from a made-up series, which ended up coming out in the most embarassing way possible because she was being such a jerk about it and not listening to what we were saying at all. She also told one of us to not swear (and it wasn't really harsh swearing, it was one word) since there were children around when she'd been mouthing it off all night and yelling at kids that didn't know Naruto or One Piece wasn't the property of Tokyopop herself!

The Recons are a great idea, it's just a shame they're so badly organised, advertised and are run by such an incompetent host. Though that said it's probably different for others seeing as the meet I attended is the only one I know of where she was this bad.

I'm going to the Doncaster one too with my friends. Hopefully i'll be cosplaying Merleawe from Magical x Miracle.

I hope we don't get that woman though, she sounds a bit evil.

I went to the one in Camberley - I dressed up as Kagura Sohma from Fruits Basket (not a serious cosplay). My friends won the cosplay competition and one of my other friends won the art competition. I loved trying out the fortune cookies and pocky!

Been to 2 of them in Nottingham, one at the end of May and the other in September.

Recons are a bit shortlived for us really.

The main problem though is the small children there. At expo and stuff they know how to respect costumes. But at recon we've had people attack our eggman, and almost rip things off it.

I hate small children.

The ones in Manchester are fine. Except for the 'yaoi' screaming. Some of us have heart conditions, might want to calm it down.

I think thats down to having The Legend that is Nick as the compare.

Anyone know when the next Manchester one is?
