She-Ra headdress
Hey guys! So I'm planning on making my first ever costume, and thought I'd give She-Ra a try, I've tried to find her headdress online for a decent price as well as it being a good replica. I wanted the sort that has the wings and not just the crown. Can't seem to find one though, and wondered what I do to try and make my own?

first off awsome choice of cosplay, I loved the whole he-man and she-ra cartoon as a kid ^^.
I'd say one of the easiest cheapest ways would be to build the head dress on top of a headband with craft foam, and could put some cardboard into it to stiffen it up and papermache over it.
Or there's the likes of crayola model magic that air dries, and is easy to use to make the shape(s) needed, then sand over to make it look good.

Oh great minds think alike! I was just looking up craft foam!

I thought that maybe I could buy the crown off of ebay, it looks good and is pretty cheap, then use craft foam to do the wings, but the crown is glittery gold and wouldn't go with the boots I had in mind with it, maybe if I could find some gold glittery spray paint for the boots...(They're gold already just not glittery) or glitter glue, haha!

Oh I dunno, I've never done this before, just throwing ideas around right now!

Thanks for the suggestion!

What sorta ref pics are you useing? This kinda sword? http://ralp.net/dungeons/he-man/adora.jpg
We were thinkin' of tryin to make simple swords with hardboard or foamboard (would be nice to keep it lightweight)... the wood ones they sell at mcm look fairly easy to make if you got a jigsaw or whateva... ^^
