Had a stupidly good time with everyone! majority of it hung out with my Gf and Sjbonnar/leadmill/alias and clone XD was majorly full of mega laughs! bought a few lovlies and met some great people! Kitacons usual best!

If you were the DJ for the Prom, then you did an awesome job (if you did it all night then, you still did a great job, I just would have liked to hear more J music, but Sunday evening was the best out of all the nights). My problem with the Prom actually had nothing to do with the music.

Heh yeah I did DJ all night in the end. Sorry for the lack of Jpop and stuff, with how late everything overran I'm surprised we managed to squeeze in as many songs as we did.

The responses so far about the parties have been that there weren't enough J-Pop/J-Rock played over the weekend which kinda through us given that most of the requests and feedback we got from last years parties kinda indicated they attendees wanted more of the same, western cheese. I'm surprised how well the western 'indie' stuff went down if I'm honest.

If you have any suggestions do feel free to through them my way and I'll incorporate them into my sets or pass them on to those that need to see them

I do admit there was a lack of anime tunage shenny however do NOT change your style, seriously , friday and saturdays listing were the best 2 fucking parties ive ever been too

It would have been nice to have a J-night, I think that would have statisfied me (though I like to hear a mix of the two cultures on the last night).
I think my main problem with Sat. and Fri is that me and my firends left early because we didn't really know the songs towards the end, which meant that we got bored...actually I think we left early on Sat because I had to get up early on Sun to get dressed. At least with Cheese everyone will get up and dance because everyone will know it. Though it's nice to have a bit of a mix

Being the weird yet self conscious person I am, I find that the only time I really dance (on Friday night) was when the really cheesey songs were on! The ones that are on at every childrens discos.

I find I'm not do D8 when they come on and let go...

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that the lack of J-music was...a positive thing ^_^'

Don't get me wrong, throwing a few well-known animé intros or some songs loads would know is fine, but I've found that in the past there have been far too many Japanese songs on and I end up getting bored.

In other words, the parties were some of the best I've ever been to at an animé convention ^_^ So thank you!

I think for me and my friends and the music was basically this;

Saturday night, we could of gone anywhere to listen to Rammstein, SOAD, White Zombie etc, and the 80s hair metal stuff but..there is no club to go to listen to Jrock/Jpop xD.

Sunday I think we missed most of the good songs to dance too :<

Overall I had a good time though. I spent most of it at the bar >_>

First couple of paragraphs are exactly the reasoning behind the parties being as they are.

Playing a convention is like playing a HUGE wedding reception - it's so diverse, you can't just play one genre and expect everyone to be into it.

The "But you can here western music anywhere!" argument doesn't work because it assumes the music is the main point, which it isn't - making sure a bulk of the people who are attending the event are enjoying themselves is the intention.

Anyway, all of Ayacon's parties are dedicated to J-Music - I'll be checking them all out to see how things are going. If I see something working it'll likely be implemented into Kitacon's future party schedule. Always looking to improve things!

i was wondering if any body had any photos from the lolita party, someone had some really good photos of me but i can't find her
i was the lolita cat with the short hair stuff my face with cake using my paws and attempting to drink tea with them on as well.

This was my first Kitacon, and I was really impressed.

Aside from the hotel prices for food and drink (Thanks to Kitacon staff for organising some cheaper options for the con-goers) I dont think I had any problems or issues with the Con itself.

I think the only downside IMO, is that it seemed to have fewer events during the weekend compared to other cons. But may just have been me.

But yeah, the con was great, the stuff I did see/do was fun, and the people were, mostly, good natured.
(During 'Kita's go Talent', I unfortunately ended up sat in the area with alot of people who decided to either try and speak over the acts, or chat on their DS)
