Hey all,

I've recently bought a cheap bokken from ebay, 40" long, made of 'hardwood' (so described by the seller). I've tried contacting Chibicon, but my emails to keep getting 'failure' notifications.

Anyone know if this kind of prop will be allowed? Or should I begin working on a softer, lighter sword of my own creation?

Or, does anyone know an email address that works? Anyone else had this problem contacting the organisers?

I can't specifically speak for chibicon but the majority of events won't let you carry a Bokken as part of a floor cosplay. There just not safe items to be carried in public or crowded places.

You really should take every effort to make your props as light and safe as possible.

Ok! I have some foam lying around. Or I could make a sword from lighter wood. Any ideas? I dunno if cardboard would be a good material for such a thin prop...

if you use papier mache with it, it should be fine, odd one out's done it XD she even did a tutorial in case you hadn't seen it
