Elf ears!
My friend needs some elf ears (or something similarly pointy) for Amecon. We did find some ear tips that were pretty much perfect (the "large elf ear" tips on this site) but I just found out this evening that even if we pay the top price for their international shipping, they probably wouldn't be here in time for Amecon. Having the ears really is vital for the accuracy of the costume, so leaving them out isn't an option.

Does anyone... a) know a UK-based place that sells ear tips? b) know a good tutorial for making ear tips? or c) have some similar (pale-coloured) ear tips that he could borrow (assuming that doesn't cause horrible hygiene problems)?

Bah get the Op! He won't have to worry ever!!!

Have you tried the ever trusty ebay?

Just a couple I spotted. I just typed in "elf ears" and I got loads of stuff coming up! If you message the seller first and just ask if you bought them now would they arrive before amecon, chances are you'll get em quick! I did it for expo this way just by checking where the item is shipped from and they all arrived real quick! You've got time yet so I reckon ebay will be your best bet! Good luck!

Edit: Check out the severed ears! Hohoho!

There are a few suggestions here. Hightower Crafts (I posted the link is in that thread *points up*) is absolutely fantastic, pretty cheap, based in the UK and they arrive really quickly!

Yep - it's my first stop, usually! None of the ear tips that were on there had the right look, unfortunately, so it's a no-go

Doh! How do I always miss these pre-existing threads? I did look... -_-

I had already looked at Hightower Crafts and there were a couple of ears on their site that looked about right, but was dismayed at the ordering info saying their delivery time was three to four months. Unless I misunderstood that?

I was mislead by that too - the 3-4 months delivery time is for their custom made costumes/props. I ordered some ears a few weeks back for Ame (was paranoid about delivery times too!) and they arrived in about 2 days. The guy running the shop was quick to get back to me, I think you should have no trouble getting them in time.

Why not have a go at making your own elf ears?

You make the tips out of plastercine (making sure they mould round your own ears) and then paint lots of layers of latex on top.

Once you have many layers of latex over the plastercine make a small incision somewhere discrete and remove the plastercine from the inside. Then add a top layer of latex with mixed acryllic paint.

Once dry use baby powder over them to stop them from sticking to everything.

Then use spirit gum to attach ears to yours...

Im planning on trying this out my self for my Lineage II cosplay so thought id share the wealth

It was an option I had considered, hence my asking for tutorial recommendations in the first post!

I've gotten a couple of options now though, so thanks everyone
