Amazing cosplay finds
So, I'm working on my Duo Maxwell cosplay, and I'm a bit... anxious, shall we say, because whilst the trousers and shirt I'm making myself, I know the hairpiece and the boots are probably going to cost me loads.

I try my luck with some hair extensions off ebay - they're really cheap, so I figure if they're crap I've not lost too much money. When they arrive, they're a perfect match for my hair, and they're fantastic quality. Under £10 including shipping!

Then I start looking at boots, and these get expensive... brand new, a pair in the style I need can tot up to about £80. Back to ebay.... A pair exactly in the style I need, £1.50, plus postage! Result!

What's your best cosplay steal?

Hmm...a pair of boots for my Maria cosplay. They were 99p excluding postage, and when they arrived I discovered that not only were they real, Italian leather, but they also had leather soles. They are in fantastic condition too - just the soles are a little worn from wear.

nearly ALL my cosplays are fantastic finds because I'm lucky to have a mother who is an assistant manager for the charity Scope in one of their shops. ^_^!

I think my luckiest find was my Ariel town dress. Someone donated the base dress into her shop one day and it had crazy sleeves that got hacked off so I just used the black bodice and blue skirt part of it! It is the EXACT design to what Ariel wears and I didn't have to do much! Plus with mom's discount it cost me about £3!!! All I had to do is make the white shirt part of it.

But yeah, I do all my costumes on the cheap as I'm still out of work at the moment and they all come out great. Ebay is fantastic, as are charity shops and primark!

Probably one of best finds is my wig for my Tidus cosplay. I found it in a sale in one of my local wig shops. It was near enough the right style. I just had to shorten it and turn the waves into flicks. I got it pretty much half price.

The other good find was a pair of shoes that I found for a cosplay that I was meant to do years ago. Found some perfect bots for Leia white gown classic. I found them for £4 in a shoe store that was closing down. I will add the costume to my planned list one day XD. In the meantime I have used the boots for other costumes.

I made my own Vampire Knight jacket, i got the blazer for £1 from a charity shop!! Perfect size and colour, and then I bought about £5 worth of white ribbon and sown it on! Looked perfectly fine, so many people thought I had bought it.
And recently, for May Expo, i bought the perfectly coloured blazer and trousers for a Battle Royale cosplay im gonna make for £5!!
I love charity shops :'

I once got a pair of green knee length lace up boots from a charity shop for 50p I ended up painting them black and using them for my Callisto costume. They lasted a few years before the heels finally fell off and they were beyond repair.

Also Sephirayne took me to Abakhans in Manchester and I found this amazing red fake leather type material. I got just short of 6 metres for £16.

Black hakama I'm not so good at making, so these were literally a God-send! I had been shopping around for ages and was worried I'd have to get someone (aka my mum) to help me make them in the end due to how expensive they were (£70+ >_< BUT luckily I found a site that had a display outfit they said I could get It came with the white top also used in kendo, and as it wasn't in PERFECT condition (it had been on display for ages) they let me have the whole thing for £10!!! Which was ridiculously awesome. True, the size was XXL or something ridiculous, but that doesn't matter - I have long legs - but let's just say I could never wear that top! ^_^;

My sisters and I are cosplaying Ouran High School Host Club at this May's London MCM Expo and so we were searching around for fake red roses(Just hoping for one each, really.) Anyway, we were in our town's market and saw a stall selling fake roses in every colour you could possibly want, and it was £3 for 20 roses! So in the end, we got 20 each and we're going to give them out at the Expo. Result? I think so. XD
You can find some really good deals if you shop around. I also got a 'very' good quality, waist length red wig last year for £16 on Ebay. I love Ebay.

I have quite a few great cosplay finds!

To name a few..

I thought it'd be really hard to find shoes like Ness', all red with white laces. But I managed to find some in Primark that were PERFECT and they only cost £2 or £3 or something! I bought two pairs

I'd been searching EVERYWHERE for some shorts for my Luke cosplay and having no luck. I went to the fabric store because I was contemplating making them myself which would have been an absolute fail so thankfully, the fabric store was closed. I had to walk through another store to get to and from the fabric store and walking back through.. I SAW THE PERFECT SHORTS. It was a miracle! Almost like fate.

I also managed to find the perfect wig for my Gumi cosplay and it wasn't labelled as a 'Gumi' wig or anything. It was on sale so it only cost £9 with postage, came JUST the day before Expo which I'm thankful about because it was a last minute cosplay and it is absolutely beautiful!
I really like it because it's a nice shade of green rather than burning-neon-in-your-face-green.

... I wish I lived wherever you lived. Even on eBay I failed to find the right colour roses for my numerous Gentlemen's Alliance cosplays... I've done two different artbook outfits now, both involving different coloured roses which I can never find cheap or not 8'(

Anyway... Main cheap cosplay finds I've had were numerous shoes via eBay, ranging from £5-10!!
And also my Ouran base blazer for £5-ish on eBay!! Perfect colour and everything, just had to buy the patch at Expo and iron it on

I love eBay <3

Well, if I can ever help you with buying fake roses, then I'll see what I can do. XD

Both versions of SH Lisa Garlands' nurse dresses. They were free because my mum used to work for a make-up company called Oriflame and they were her work overalls. Result.

My Shin/Pretear costume was completely free because I modded things I already had and borrowed the cons from a friend.

My Shiki costume was pretty good too in that my dad had bought a leather trench coat for under a tenner to cut up for door panels for my brother's car, but he decided it was too nice to cut up so he gave it to me. Also the trousers only cost £2.50 out of a charity shop, not bad for pleather.

I think my best actual purchase for a costume though was a white belt originally for my Shuichi/Gravi costume which has then been reused every time I rewore it plus for the three times I've worn not dying Lisa Garland. Not bad for 90p.

Oh no, I tell a lie, I made a Brave Little Toaster costume for the grand total of 40p and that was only cos I had to buy string (and I probably only used about 4p worth of string).

I'm both a terrible hoarder and really like to recycle things so I'll keep an old broken pair of headphones for a few years and then it'll become useful for a costume "eventually". It is clearly an inherited trait. lol.

I generally try not to spend over £30 on any one costume (including wig) and before I start ordering anything I ask myself "what do you already own that could be useful for this?" And then end up with no clothes left in my wardobe. lol. Of course sometimes things don't always go to plan with the more complicated ones. It's fabric and wigs that're the killer.

Bargins for me must have been the fabric for my Kaiko skirt and leg warmers £1 per meter was really nice thick good quality fabric and i only needed 2 and a half meters RESULT! and i still have some left over =D also then material i bought originally for Shun'ou's wings but going to be using them for something else 50p a meter BOYAH! <3 i love some areas of London!

The best things in life are free they say, hmm i think they are =D for prop building i use a lot of card newspaper, poles, foam and electrics. My Uncle recently moved and gave me all the old poles expandable foam he had he also gives me any left over PVA from off the building sites he works on! London has free newspapers so after reading them my BF saved them up for me =D and my mum works in a shop and when i need them she brings home cardboard boxes =D

Lights, i didnt realize i was going to need any this year so i didnt stock up in the xmas sale! but i got some on ebay for £3 they arrived but didnt work, so i contacted the seller they sent me some more, and my uncles fixed the ones i had so thats 2 sets for £3 =D was well chuffed!
