Hey there everyone! *Waves*

I am awful at this kind of thing, so bare with me! Haha >.<;

The name's Kirstie, I am going to be 21 next week and I am from England (Northampton, if your curious!) I love to cosplay and I have been doing it since I was 18. I would of started it a lot sooner, but I failed and lacked the funds to do so D:

Anyway! I have sadly never been to a convention Mainly because I tend to be awfully shy, and my friends are not interested in Cosplay at all. I really would love to go to one though, they look like great fun!

I cosplay mainly for social events (my birthday for example, I have forced my crew to dress up with me and hit the clubs in cosplay), and for professional photoshoots. I do these for peoples portfolio's (although I don't always get to be characters that I necessarily like >.< ).

So, what do I like to cosplay? Well, I think my username is a dead giveaway. Lol, dead, did you get that? (Yeah, I stink at puns, I know ). When given the choice, I always pick characters from my two favourite things of all time- Dead Rising and Resident Evil. I am a huge Capcom and videogame nerd in general, but I quite literally live, sleep and breath these games! My next photoshoot requires me to dress up as Excella Gionne from RE5. I am super excited, as she is my favourite female of all time from the Resi Evil series! I am hoping to dress up as Bibi Love from Dead Rising 2, and Isabela Keyes from Dead Rising in the not too distant future as well.

I would love to chat to some of you guys Especially if you share the same cosplaying genre interests!

I studied in northampton not too long ago, just recently moved back to the land of round abouts. And here I was thinking most people with similar instrests lived miles away or were still in their teens LOL my bad for sterotyping. But still you got Close encounters and Jeff sells top Manga in that area *is jealous*

Anyways you shouldn't be too scared bout going to cons, heck I went to my first con pretty much on my own. I had to drag me sis round Expo on the saturday then sunday I went flying solo. My second time at Expo I met some really nice people and they've quickly become really good friends of mine. I'm sure your appearance here on Cosplay Island will open a pleathera of doors into the Cosplay community.

So welcome again and can't wait to see what ya have to share here on the island

First of all, happy birthday for next week!

I think the fear of going to a convention alone is far worse than the reality. I shall be attending my next con solo, and I live on the other end of the country >.< ...and like you, I'm also quite shy IRL. So please don't let shyness stop you from going! You'll have so much fun and meet lots of people with similar interests, especially if you join in with a few meets/photoshoots. You should head to Expo in May; if my atrocious geography is right on this occasion, I don't think it should be too far for you to travel ^_^.

And yay for Resi cosplay! I think it's my go-to series at the moment haha. Can't wait to see your Excella! You don't see many cosplays of her (it's that dress o.O).

Dang I remember Collectormania, it sucks that they moved it out of middelton hall though. I stopped going after they switched the location. And if ya headin to Expo lemme know, I'm not sure if I can afford to go just yet (kinda jobless atm 8s) but would be nice to know that there's more than one Cosplayer in the land of roundabouts.

I'm studying photography at Northampton uni! its a shame theres no cosplay scene here but the comic book shop (close encounters)is really good, and jeff is a sound guy.
It'd be cool to do a photoshoot some time in the future with some of you since MK isnt far at all lol.

MK is totally awesome though T_T If I can't find the things I want over here, the shopping center there almost always has it! And you have the Apple Mac store *_* And your Market kicks ours to high heaven! I'm a total sucker for going to MK though, I have to admit. I love the bus ride, haha! Waterstone's also has quite a few good Manga's in now, I was able to finish off the rest of my Priest collection (finally!)- and pick up my beloved Castlevania.

Sadly I am an only child and have no relatives that I could even think about dragging to a cosplay event I guess its down to me to sum up the courage and give it a go! I've booked to go to places quite a few times, but always bottled out at the last minuet. I keep imagining myself as a lonely Excella, huddled in the corner with nothing buy my syringe to keep me company. Lol >.<;

Thank you very much! I have been to Collectormania a few times myself, but that was like.... yeaaars ago. I was still a kid back then, hehe. I think I was around 13-14, or something like that. I never participated in the cosplay events either, mainly because I didn't know they existed there until recently, and because I am a total failure and have no idea how to go about it xD
I will probably be harassing you, shouting, prodding, probing- y'know, all that kinda stuff. If I do dare to go to any of them, I really don't want to end up loitering around in a dark corner, like some shifty salesman trying to flog mah puppies. >.<; Lol.

Call me a nab, but I don't think I have heard of Expo- do you have a link to their site? I can then perhaps take a look at it and see if my brain decides to heed peoples advice and let me go. >.< And don't worry, my Geography is probably far worse then yours xD Me and a friend ended up in Coventry instead of Northampton on our way back from MK once o_o (Don't ask how, seriously xD). I would really love to meet some people with the same interests as me though, I don't think I have ever known anyone like that before- and if I did, they always grew out of it D: (even things like hobbies such as drawing/gaming. Its like I am the only one left now that does either of those things). It would be great to chat to people about things without them switching off and giving me the 'ogod, hereshegoesagain' look xD

I know two people who attend Northampton Uni, and one of them attends the photography club there I've worked with him for his portfolio occasionally too ^^
Close Encounters is quite epic, I agree <3 Although I don't tend to go in there too much these days, not since it changed from Phoenix Comix. As I have said, I am awfully shy and get all nervous when asking the new guy (Jeff?) if he has things xD So I rather just sulk and sit on eBay. -Cough- I need socialising, damnit!

A photoshoot would be great, I would totally be game for that some time I really love working with different people and hearing their idea's, its the part I find most fun. I live in Northampton myself, and the Uni is not even 10 mins driving distance from me (I live near Northampton College), so traveling is no problem at all.

Wow, wall of text! Haha! Thank you so much for the kind words and warm welcomes everyone! Its great to chat to such nice people, who also have a love of cosplay too! I wish I knew about this site sooner.

Haha, don't worry - I hadn't heard of Expo until about a month before the last one XD. The website can be found here. It's held at Excel at Royal Victoria Dock in London usually the last weekend of May and October, and there's also one in the Midlands (Telford, just gone) and they have one in Manchester too (last Saturday in July). You're lucky that you live where you do because most cosplay-related events seem to happen in the south ^_^.

I totally feel your pain; I have very few friends who are into 'nerdy' things, and even less who know what cosplay is let alone are open to the idea. And oh my God, I get that look all the time XD.
But seriously, get yourself to some conventions . Expo is a big one, so there are lots of people there and everyone is friendly enough. And if you look around on here and on the Expo forums, there are a lot of meets/photoshoots arranged for cosplayers from certain series so you can meet new people that way .

You have to use boob tape or sock glue for your dress! It should help haha. And trust me, if you're drunk enough that you fall out of a taped dress, you're not going to care and come the next morning, you won't even remember! XD And hells yeah, we're not always gonna be this young!
A guy I know once told me to do Rikku's FFX-2 outfit (I declined in variations of the phrase 'never in a million years' ) but he made a good point - said I wasn't always going to be this young and I may as well get the 'bold' ones out of the way before I have kids and everything goes downhill. That doesn't mean I'm going to do Rikku or that I'm deliberately seeking skimpy costumes; it just means that if I want to do a certain character, I'm not dismissing them automatically if their outfit is a little revealing. I think it was a very good point.

I spink an MK Northampton leason (sp?) may be in order with a photoshoot as well XD There are so many decent outdoor places in Northampton that'd be perfect for Cosplay shoots. Racecourse, abbington park and the like.

Jeff is most certainly a sound guy, he used to get in the volumes of InuYasha for me that I couldn't get hold off elsewhere. The figures may be a bit limited atm but Manga wise Jeff can pretty much get anythin for you if ya ask.

I guess the shopping's okay in MK but it kinda gets old when you've lived there pretty much all of your life. LMAO
