Cosplay weapons at Kitacon III
Hey everyone

I've not been to any convention like Kitacon before and was wondering how many of you will be taking guns ect (not real ones ofc)

I want to buy one for my Zoey cosplay but was unsure whether others would be taking them since it's at a hotel and they're usually quite strict.
Would be great to know, thanks!

Here's a link to the Kitacon cosplay guidelines page, it mentions about weapon guidelines and everything. Hope it helps. I had to check this page before getting a sword comissioned as this will be my first Kitacon too

Read the linked rules, we cover guns in it.

Also, if you are in doubt bring it to us to check at the convention.

You will need to bring your weapons and props to us in the cosplay workshop or ops anyway for us to check them and give you a licence to carry them if they pass.

For furture refrence, every UK convention (this does not include expos) more or less abide the same rules for weapons and props. So once you have been to 1 convention you can be pretty sure that other conventions will be the same. That doesnt mean you shouldn't come and get your stuff checked though

Also, we cannot and will not give anyone the OK on any prop or weapon prior to the event, showing us images of your completed prop isn't enough, we need to see it in person and hold it so we can be sure it's not actually made from something thats dangerous.

If you make your props and weapons according to the rules, then you shouldn't have a problem. Almost everything will be allowed for the masquerade anyway, and for photoshoot, but you'll get a special licence if it's only allowed for those things.

Don't be put off if anyone approaches you at the convention and asks to see your cosplay licence if you have a weapon or prop. If you don't have one, it just means that you'll be told to go to ops or the cosplay workshop for us to check it and then give you one

Please understand that the rules aren't there because we want to be buzz kills. Its health and saftey and obviously, UK law and the hotels requirments too ^_^

If you have any more questions don't hesitate to e-mail me, the address is in my sig
