Im working on helping a photographer with a project on emerging fashion trends from Japan that we are seeing in the UK.

This of course is covering cosplay/ Lolita/ Steampunk/ Visual Kei etc etc.

We are looking for anyone who might be interested in being a model, and of course would make sure you get a copy of the prints.

Well if anyone is in London that would be fantastic, but we do have the ability to get to other places, aside from manchester where are others based?

Essex. But It takes around 30/45 minutes to get to London from where I am so London should be good for me.

I know what you mean, but photographer wants to include it as its something he quite likes! im not gonna argue!

Hey there,

My name is Scott and i am the photographer working with Anita for this project. Thought i'd introduce myself properly. Anita and myself have both being trying to network to find some people who are interested and willing to take part in this project.

Thank you all so much for the fantastic response, i will outline my aims and objectives for this project which is inherently a module for university but also an exciting opportunity to create some great work.

I am hoping to produce images that reflect the growing subculture and consequent fashion trends that have been influenced by Japanese alternative fashion and harajuku. I want to show how this influence is seen, felt and adapted in the UK. This is an editorial body of work, and if it is as successful as i hope i will pitch it to a suitable magazine (SuperSuper being my present choice). (With your permission of course!!)

In response to Steampunk being included, i agree that it does not have roots in japanese fashion, but is very Western. It is from my experience of attending anime cons, mcm expo, harajuku ball and the grand international cosplay ball that i have been introduced to steampunk fashion and culture. I feel that in the UK this style interlinks with the aforementioned genres and scene as a whole. Plus i really like it and want to shoot some photographs!!

Do you have any Decora style photos that i could see, i would really like to shoot that as it seems to be fairly rare to find. This could be fun. I do a Elegant Gothic Aristocrat style generally with very elaborate makeup. I can get to London but need plenty of notice so I can afford to get down and book time off work.

I have also been known to dabble in J-music influenced costumes, like Versailles, D and Visual Kei etc!

That is of course if you are interested in this style!!

1000014 - Thank you - a visual kei outfit would be great as that was an area was really wanted to cover but was having difficulty in finding- i will send you a PM!

SJ - We loved the steampunk stuff, its brilliant. If you have a favourite steampunky outfit that you like to wear let me know and we'll check out those pictures, we of course want you to feel comfortable in what you are wearing to get the best images possible.

Holli- i hadnt forgotten about you! Victorian Lolita sounds great as it will be nice to have a range of Lolita styles, if you can just show me a picture of it so i have an idea that would be fantastic!

Hi all, again thank you for your fantastic enthusiasm for this project. Its really appreciated!

We've drawn up a timetable of weekends for shoots, however if anyone is available in the easter holiday period then we can do a string of days in that time. If you find that a weekday would be better for you, please let me or scott know and will do our best to see if we can accomodate that.

Dates to be looked at (weekends- mainly sundays but if you need a saturday just shout!)

13th March
20th March
27th March
3rd April
17th April
Easter 22 April - 2nd May (possibly earlier in that week as well)

Let me know how you guys feel about any of those!
