My name's Jess, I'm a final year student at Salford University and I'm currently making a short documentary about cosplay.

Basically, I'm a big fan of anime, manga and games, but I've never cosplayed myself - so I want to find out what I'm missing!

I'd also like to try and dispel the myth that all people who cosplay are 'geeks' or 'fanatics', as the media seems to like to assume!

So I'm looking for Manchester/Northwest based cosplayers to talk to and/or interview. If you want a group of cosplayers who aren't necessarily all geeks and fanatics then try MUJS, Manchester University Japanimation Society. Just type them into goggle, or I can ask my brother for you.

Ah yeah I know of MUJS, good idea! thank you And of course I wasn't saying that I think cosplayers are geeks, that just seems to be their stereotype in the media, and I know that's not true

Don't worry, I know what you mean, but when you said it, it brought those guys to mind. I hang out with them at Amecon, and a lot of them are really there for a good party as much as anything else.

I'm thinking of arranging a day, maybe a weekend, to do some interviewing next month - provided I can use the location I want So anyone who'd be willing could pop along during the weekend when they were free to chat to me Or anyone that would rather not be on camera, I'd still be really grateful if I could email you a few questions!

I've never even considered cosplaying myself, guess it's probably my laziness coupled with my shyness but who knows, maybe you'll all persuade me otherwise

FailedCosplayerxD - *googles how far manchester is from leeds* Hmm, it's an hour away on the train, I did not know that! I'd offer to come to Leeds to meet your group but unfortunately I don't drive, and the Uni cameras are so heavy that I can barely carry them across a room, so trains aren't ideal But I'd be really grateful if you could mention me to your group? If any of them ever venture to Manchester they could come say hi to me, if not then Id love to email some questions to you all

Well Sephirayne and I have a con each in a few weeks but I can see about doing it after that. Will just need to get some pennies together. No idea what cosplay I would do but may have to chose something alittle simpilar as I'll probs come up on the train. Sephirayne I'll see if I persuade Paul to look after Tillie for me.

Hi everyone!

It's gone a bit quiet over here, but just wanted to let you all know that I've got my permission sorted to film at HMV in the Arndale on Saturday 19th March, so if any of you would be willing to come and see me for some interviews or just a chat then please let me know

I noticed it's the Midlands expo this weekend, are any of you guys attending? Seems to be the closest big event to Manchester at the moment!
