Buying pre styled wigs which are advertised for specific characters are often a lot more expensive than buying a standard wig which is exactly the same but not advertised as a specific character.

The choice of weather to buy a wig pre styled or not is up to you and weather you want to have a go at styling your own wig. There are some extremely good tutorials in the article section of this website. It may be worth reading this before making your final decision.

Shikimaru from naruto will be pretty straight forward. You could either use a black wig without a fringe but very short and then add a pony tail hair piece and spike this up using something like 'got2b glued' hair gel (seriously - that stuff holds everything!) or buying a longer wig and putting it into a pony tail and spiking that. The first option will be easier to hid the hair under.

Hope that helps!

Have a look at my cosplays, I've cosplayed as Chad/Sado.

The wig is simply a wavy brown one, on retrospect it should be curlier and shorter. I simply couldn't find anything that was between curly and wavy, so that's the closest I could find. If you can search for something long that isn't curly wurly but still is a little tame, you can always hack it back.

I hope you're built like a tank too ;D

Ichigo's hair is spiky, and orange. You can buy novelty super day-glo orange hair like that anywhere, and simply style/cut it. But it won't look like natural hair. Your best bet is to find a spiky ginger wig and style that accordingly.

I would go with the "style it yourself" option. As soon as you get one with a name stuck to it, it doubles with price, and they can be really disapointing.

Here's the ebayers I use. I know you can find Ichigo's style within them, but I don't know about Chad's

Most party/costume shops stock a wide range of generic wigs at affordable prices. If you can't find exactly what you're after style wise, buy a wig that is longer than the character's hair and trim and style it. Colour wise I'm not too sure though. Apparently spraying a wig with a coloured spray isn't the best option as it's weak and comes out quickly. I have heard that you can take a sharpie marker pen and colour in a wig. Can anyone confirm this is I may need to do it for an upcoming cosplay?

Hi Sam!

I've tried this on an old wig I'm never going to use again and It seems to work but depending on the quality of the material It might look too stuck together and not flow very well.

I also tried this technique for when I was feeling lazy and needed to have black insets in the middle of some orange fur and CBA sewing in panels and again it looked ok but was too shiny for what I wanted so ended up sewing panel in the end ¬_¬ That'll teach me.....
