Why hello there, newbie from Birmingham here!
Hey everyone!
I'm Soph, and i'm from Birmingham!
I've just joined this site with the intention of meeting new people from/near Birmingham to hopefully meet up with and go to cosplay and anime conventions with. Not many of my current friends seem to understand my love of anime and manga so it would be great to meet people that share a passion for these things.

I have watched anime since I was a kid, and have always been a complete gaming geek.

Favourite animes

Bleach
Naruto
Pokemon

Favourite games

Final Fantasy
Resident Evil
Zelda
Devil May Cry

Favourite films
Ghost In The Shell
Vampire Hunter
Anything directed by Hayao Miyazaki such as:
Spirited Away
Howl's moving castle
Princess Mononoke
Kiki's Delivery Service
My Neighbour Totoro

Favourite characters

Cloud
Kakashi
Howl

So that's a little bit about me, hoping to get some replies and looking forward to meeting new people in the community =]

You just had to say Ghost in the Shell, to have me smitten with you.

You'll not find respite with your friends who aren't into anime, as they'll just see it as Cartoon Porn, well that's what happened with me. Shame, really.. but on retrospect I should have eased them into it instead of making them watch the hot springs episode of Fumoffu... It IS a hilarious ep though..

ANYWAY.

Welcome. You look like the kind of person to have fun, gimme a shout if you're at the same cons/gigs/expos as me ;D

Ghost in the shell is awesome!

Yeah you're right about the porn situation...I can see why people think that sometimes though as anime porn is plastered all over the internet lol

Cheers for the reply, didn't expect anyone to actually read my post!

Oh and yeah I will do! I'm thinkin of goin to the MCM convention in London and maybe the one in Manchester. Not sure if I can make the one in Birmingham yet as i'll be workin more than likely!

12 Dec 2010 - 21:2946547
Expected no-one to read your post!? Nonsense! You have much to give and much to learn, I'd offer to take you under my wing too! We'd soar high upon the clouds of destiny, fists clenched in eagerness to strike at the sun itself with all our strength, for they said we were irrelevant, that we were powerless, that WE WERE NOT IMPORTANT.. But they shall see the light no more when we show them that we will blot out the shining heavens, and in the shade they will repent, they will repent...

(London! I almost always go to that one, the manchester one will be questionable, but I reckon I'll end up going anyway as I spend far too much time there anywho..)

12 Dec 2010 - 21:4546549
Much to give and much to learn...this is very true!

Which of your glorious wings are you thinking of taking me under? I love the way your feathers sway on the slight breeze of this winters night.

Let us dance.

Ummmmm..anywaaaaaay......London! Yus yus!

I am definately gonna be going to that one so I shall see you there!

Heads will roll!

Yeah Im good thanks. ^_^
It can be a bit daunting going to a convention on your own the first time, but cosplayers are some of the best at being friendly and inclusive. Esp if you have made friends already on the forum its nice to meet up in person on the day. Oh goody, if you do make it to Midlands Expo be sure to stick around to the end when the masquerade show starts on stage - that is always such a ball, even as a spectator, the atmosphere is ..party like.. ^^
So what are your costume plans for 2011?

14 Dec 2010 - 16:4346624
Hey Sisceal, Thanks!
Glad you agree on my games list, I’m such a gaming addict, waiting for the release of Zelda Skyward Sword atm, isn’t released until next year though so I’m having to contain my excitement lol!
Studio Ghibli rockkkkkks <3

14 Dec 2010 - 16:4446625
Thanks Numta, I hope I do too! =]
GITS is awesome, I absolutely love it! How are you?

14 Dec 2010 - 16:4946626
Stephen, I'm glad you're well!
Yeah it seems daunting meeting random people at conventions that's why I've joined this forum so I can hopefully get to know some of you guys beforehand =]
I will definately stick around till the end for the masquerade show!
I'm thinking of going as Kakashi from Naruto as he's one of my favourite characters. I may even go as Howl or Krauser from Resident evil. Not too sure yet! >.<

Oh gosh - Stephen! - only my mum calls me that..and then only when I am in trouble for somethin! hahahah and that hasnt happened in a loooong while. Steve is fine. I know technically it should be shortened to Stephe but thats too confusing so friends go with Steve.

Well as you are coming to Midlands Expo you have roughly two months left to throw your new costume together. So better get sewing gal, Feb will be here before you know it.

So what's your favourite Zelda game?
I loved Ocarina of time, started playing it when it was first released for the N64 when i was a kid, from that day I was hooked lol
I also loveddddd Majora's mask, brilliant game!
Are you going to Kitacon in April?

Oooo ohhhh sorry for calling you that, I just got it off your profile! =]
Glad you're keeping out of trouble though =p lol

You're right, I do need to get sewing! how are your costumes coming along? Are you going to Kitacon in Birmingham in April 2011?

15 Dec 2010 - 14:1746676
Yes planning to go to Kita some surprise costumes for that. Sadly..havent got much done on my midlands Expo costume yet. Still sourcing the fabrics and stuff..I need to go to the rag market but everything gets so busy this time of year. :S

15 Dec 2010 - 14:5146677
I was going to suggest the rag market for fabric, you are right though Birmingham is crazy busy at this side of Christmas. Which reminds me I should prob venture off up there tonight to think about starting my xmas shopping! >.<

15 Dec 2010 - 19:1146710
I might go up Friday - the rag market is not open every day, and sometimes only half of the stalls are open. I think Fridays are fully open like on Saturdays.. I hope.. :S

Welcome, always good to see another new face, and a Brummie at that (I'm ex pat Brummie now in London).

The only "dumb question" is the one you don't ask.
