I'm always the shota-esque character. And while looking for references, it always dawns on me that only girls seem to cosplay the characters. >_>

I generally cosplay the characters that everyone loves but don't seem to cosplay enough!!!

For example -

Seifer Almasy - FFVIII
Guile - Street Fighter
Wakka - FFX
Yamcha - DBZ

The butch, manly types with broad shoulders. Usually intellectual types. I either seem to go for strong, loyal people or strong, insane people!

Females that have a similar body shape to me. That's why I can pull off most Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts types (not Tifa because I don't have the boobs lol).

Age wise I can pull off some younger characters still as I don't actually look my age (22) unless I'm wearing dark make-up lol So I would say characters from around age 14 up.

A lot of my cosplays seem to feature the colour blue so I would like to say that suits me. I quite like "girly" outfits but the tactical gear featured in my Resi costumes can be fun.

Personality wise I think I don't think I suit arrogant, evil or similar characters so I have avoided those.

Characters that suit me tend to be tall and curvy. I'm 5'7 in bare feet and very hourglass shaped, can't do really young looking characters so late teens and above it pretty much my age range.

My upcoming cosplays are Lulu from FFX and Morrigan from Dragon Age. I have a feeling that going for the darker slightly gothic looking women suits me better XD

I don't really have a particular type if I'm honest. The characters I go for are the ones that I just want to cosplay at the time so really it's just luck if it ends up suiting me XD Kim Possible is the one that most people have said is good for me so far.

I've also been told that I really suit Freya Crescent from Final Fantasy IX... but I don't really know whether to take that as a compliment as in essence I'm being told I look like a giant rat

yeah ... well i am tall and fat .. so not many cosplays fit suit me body wise (this will all change) ... but personality i would go for maybe sailor moon, tifa , yufi , misty,

i tried sakura but i dont think it worked well ... so i changed her by adding an akaski coat : D

You should never be put off my the way you look I have a friend who is very "fluffy" and curvy, but she cosplayed Maylene from Black Butler just fine And she felt great about it ^^ And she looked awesome too. So never be put off if you happen to be bigger than the character

Heroes I guess ^^ I cant do the whole evil thing, only really alucard and thats complicated XD some female characters suit me I guess ^^ I do enjoy crossplaying but yeah big heroes XD

I tend to pick character i feel i can kinda of pull off i guess?? And ones i admire. Oh and ones with good designs. But i dont really know tbh.

Characters that have costumes I like. That's pretty much it. I have to really, really, insanely love a character to cosplay them if I don't like their costume, like when I did Riza Hawkeye and even then I like the uniform enough to balance out all the cons of cosplaying her. The only exception was my first cosplay, Sailor Mercury, but then, that was my first con and I knew I wanted to cosplay, so I just picked my favourite character.
I wouldn't cosplay I character I loved but found the costume dull, but I would cosaply a character that I didn't particularly like but had an awesome costume.

That being said, I've never cosplayed a character that I don't like. Which kinda leads me to suspect that that two factors are very interlinked for me.... The closest I came was when I wanted to do Millenia from Grandia 2.

So I don't really think about what character's suit me, I try to make myself suit them.

I have been told that I look like Kokoro from Dead or Alive 4. So I guess I look like her heh.

People tell me my face is very similar to Rinoa Heartilly I get really paranoid about not pulling her off O_O I still think I need to lose weight to perfect her though >.<

And i've been told I look perfect as Raine Loire but I think in FF8 they used the same 3D models for the girls XD

Personality wise I'm a lot like Rinoa except I'm not as brave as her but I think I'm similar to Kagome from InuYasha XD since she likes to pretend she's brave but gets scared often and I've been told I'm like Tohru Honda XD dunno why though

I do tend to lean towards the epic and evil. I have strangely been able to chameleon myself very well. So manly men do appear as well.

I have a habit of cosplaying charatcers with varying levels of innocence to them... which says a lto about me really XD

Although, this tradition will be broken with Caterpillar (Alice In Wonderland) and Scarecrow (Batman).

In terms of looks.... well, it's more based of charatcers than how they look. But... I generally do late teen looking to late 20s looking males and females.

I know what you mean XD I try to make room for characters I can naturally look like without much alteration, like eyes and hair colour ^^

Well, I have been told to cosplay RE5 Jill Valentine because I am blonde, blue-eyed and pale lol.

I tend to just fall into the ones that I like.
Villains are fun though. I am determined to do a Harley Quinn cosplay one day, and I think being in character for her should not be a problem. I get really exciteable and, violence aside, I do tend to get a little like her sometimes. Blonde, hyper...complete batpoop.
I do love characters with artistic, elaborate costumes but I have nowhere near the skill level to pull them off. Even RE5 Jill is going to be a huge challenge for me.

Personally I have never been compared to any character, personality or apperance, I like to think of this as a compliment since most characters are a bit over the top, and I'm rather, not.

The only characters I've really been compared to are L and Death the Kid because of my bizzare habits. Apparently I'm not half bad at acting, and for a little juxtaposition, can pull of serious and reserved characters, and exaggerated and comedic ones. Don't see how that really works but alright. I've never done a crossplay before, not sure if I could pull it off or not. Chavs seem to think I'm a girl, one actually started hitting on me (it's usually from behind, this was from the front). I told him I didn't swing that way and laughed. He hesitated for a moment, then asked if I was a guy or not. He seemed rather surprised when I said I was. But I digress, I've never touched makeup or a pair of straighteners in my life, so I suppose with the right makeup and shaping equipment I could do it. I would crossplay Rei from EVA, but I'm not that confident and I wouldn't know how to put on any of the makeup or anything, so I'm going for a genderbent version (I really like her character and I reckon I could pull it off). I'm sure I would crossplay her (or someone) if I had some assistance though.
